Go see some theatre. Seriously. There is some bad shit out there right now, and theatre can be a place of refuge for a few minutes. I got to see these two shows over the past 2 days. Completely different in almost every single way, but one thing is real: You get to watch tremendous art making. Watch artists do their thing. Watch them tell stories from everything they have. Great work all. #theatre

"It weighs heavily on me, the idea of legacy."

Stars Jonathan Riker (Charlotte et al.) and Isa Spetz (Understudy) share what delights—and maybe intimidates—them about I AM MY OWN WIFE, what makes this show meaningful to them personally, and why it’s the right story for right now.

Starring in I AM MY OWN WIFE, Jonathan Riker carries an entire world onstage, bringing to life Charlotte von Mahlsdorf and more than 30 other characters in this powerful one-person play. But before you meet all of them, let's meet the actor behind the magic!

@jon.riker graduated from Bucknell University in 2022 with majors in Theatre, Political Science, and Music. Their recent Milwaukee credits include A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (Lysander), A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER (Monty Navarro), HENRY V (Hotspur/The Dauphin), TO CATCH A THIEF (Le Borgne), FRANKENSTEIN: A NEW MUSICAL (Henry Clerval), and SWITZERLAND (u/s Edward Ridgeway). Catch them this spring as Elevator Guy in GEORGE AND GRACIE: A LOVE STORY at Milwaukee Rep. Jon is honored to be joining this wonderful project, thankful to Milwaukee Chamber Theatre for the opportunity, and grateful to their friends, family, and cat, Mozart, for all their love and support.

I AM MY OWN WIFE is a theatrical feat that asks a lot of its performer—and delivers even more for the audience. We can't wait to see where Jonathan and the team take this story!
