Julien Cudot interview part 2. This time we talked about his new pro skate and his relationship with Cougar. For a long time Julien was a free agent, choosing to skate for himself. In recent years he’s partnered up with Cougar and I wondered what went into this choice. Julien cover the process of making the skate and aligning with Cougar. #rollerblading

Julien Cudot got his first Cougar Pro skate recently, a decade after receiving his first ever pro skate. Wild that he’s only had 2 and with such a huge gap between skates. He teamed up with Dom West, putting together a superb edit to complement the release and I reached out to chat about it. The interview will be split across two parts. Part 1 focusing on the video and part 2 on the skate and his relationship with Cougar.

One question this didn’t quite fit in this one:

Q - Tom - Have you ever had a year where you won every comp you entered? Blading Cup have the Triple Cup. It would be cool to have official list of comps you had to win for the “Grand Slam”, like they have in Tennis and Golf

Julien Cudot - Win all comp i enter in a year is always a secret goal in my mind ahah but i never wanted to make it official (in my mind), i think itd be more constant pressure and might not help to do good one event after the other. I came very close though one year where i had 2 or 3 silvers out of 10ish comps and even thought i deserved golds on the missed ones ahah. Be sure to check out Julien’s day by day breakdown of his trip to Sydney for more insights.

“Julien Cudot x Dom West” was, as the title suggest filmed and edit by the brilliant Dom West for Julien’s new pro skate from Cougar.

When he’s not busy making some of the best skate videos you’ve ever seen, you can catch @jonashhansson riding the bull while listening to Mexican music. @jonashhansson , you are coming right? 😅#burzatorden #hanglosers #torshov

Cudot has had a great year of rollerblading and has made a conscious effort to work with top quality filmers. I believe the inconsistent production of his edits was previously one of the reasons why he wasn’t able to secure skater of the year - so it’s cool to see him address that. Off the bat I believe it’s made a difference. He first worked with Ant Medina and now @jonashhansson. I reckon this is the cleanest Cudot has skated as well. Do you think Julien will win SOTY? I’ve set up a prize fund for the eventual winner for male and female. Thank you to everyone who has donated for far. It’s positive to see people support it and make a change in rollerblading. This is going to lead to more top quality skating which we all benefit from. There is still time to donate so get involved. Oh I think there also seems to be a bit of confusion, this prize pot is for the awards I will host. 🫡 shout out to the other people doing awards. The more the merrier and that. #rollerblading #inlineskating #aggressiveinline
