Hypha Curates Presents ‘Make Do / Make Space’, curated by Nicholas Stavri (@nicholas_stavri) 🔗 Check the link in bio for our performance and tour programming Jonathan IND Maelstrom, 2026 Steel 90 x 90 x 5 cm DM for a full list of works  Jonathan Røed Ind (@jonathan.ind) pushes materials beyond their intended function, allowing them to exist in states that no longer perform as expected. Each work develops from a previous one, with parts often adapted and reused into new structures. This ongoing process reflects a form of resourcefulness and sustainability, where the material carries its own histories of transformation. He treats sculpture as an active spatial condition, where strain and balance create a bodily awareness of space. Industrial materials hold and redirect force, and the exhibition space becomes part of the work's construction, with each sculpture responding to its surroundings and to the other pieces around it. 🗓 Open until the 11th Sep 2026, Thur – Sun, 12 – 6pm 📍 Hypha Gallery South Bank, 42 Southwark Bridge Rd, London SE1 9EU 💭 The exhibition’s title references the wartime instruction to make do and mend, a phrase that asked people to work with what they had, to repair rather than discard, and to find resourcefulness in the face of scarcity. Reframed for a city of rising costs, disappearing studios, and shrinking public funding, it feels less like history and more like lived experience. Make Do / Make Space is a rallying cry for a generation of self-starting artists who have refused to wait for museums, galleries, and cultural institutions to open up. 🔗Link in bio for more information Photo Credit @carlozambon #jonathanind #nicholasstavri #hyphastudios #mdms

Ahead of the PV on the 6th August, I’d like to continue the introductions. Next up, I am pleased to introduce the work of: @jonkipps Kipps’ is an artist currently based in Southend-on-Sea. He works mainly in sculpture, creating hybrid objects from discarded or leftover materials. Kipps is interested in the way people choose to model and customise their environments and surrounding commodities, particularly objects associated with asserting or diffusing power, restricting behaviour and understanding social hierarchies @gemma.holzer Holzer’s work renders a mixture of personal nostalgia and reimagined histories. Her pieces suggest ancient cultures, featuring idols of strange creatures, inhabiting nondescript spaces. They allude to artefacts involved in funerary practices, vessels that hold long forgotten memories. Holzer draws inspiration from standing stones and other Neolithic sites; relics from distant pasts that still hold physical space in the present. This narrative is echoed in her paintings, as she positions references to ancient imagery in contrast with newly manufactured representations, bringing past and present together. @jonathan.ind Ind pushes materials beyond their intended function, allowing them to exist in states that no longer perform as expected.
