Nathan’s childhood ends here. In EYE COLLECTOR #6, he takes the fight to the Eye Collector inside dreams to win Clara back, armed with a Bladed Heart, his mother’s eyes, and his father’s Dreamskin. This oversized 48-page issue closes the END OF CHILDHOOD story arc and marks the first full appearance of the Dreamskin, though his secret wishes may follow him into adulthood.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Ever look at a page in a graphic novel and wonder how the hell it all came together?

Here’s the thing about comics: the writer might put the words on the page, but the artist brings an entirely new language to the story.

And that’s where the magic happens.

A great graphic novel isn’t just a script with pictures. It’s a conversation between two creative minds, constantly pushing each other to make something better than either could have made alone.

Sometimes the artist sees something the writer never imagined. Sometimes a single panel says more than three pages of dialogue ever could.

That’s what I love about this medium. It’s collaborative storytelling at its absolute best.

Swipe through for a little look at that process, some ridiculously good art, and a well-deserved shoutout to one of the best to do it.

Also, apparently we’re talking about plaid now.

Question for my comic people: What graphic novel has artwork that absolutely blew you away?

Somehow missed this Not All Dragons interview when it went live in July 🫠🐉, so I’m sharing it now as I get ready to head to Ottawa for Can*Con next month! Thank you @jonathanballcom for a great chat.

I finally have an update on my Eye Collector embroidery!!

I've filled in two of the eyes as well as the hand. I wanted to give it quite a stylised look by making each eye a different colour. I love how all of the stitches make the hand look almost scaly 🦎

I've slowed down a bit after returning to work but I'm hoping to have more time to work on it over the next few weeks. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I'm still loving the series and I'm intrigued to see where it goes- I haven't had the chance to read the fourth yet since I promised my boyfriend I'd wait for him, I'm so excited to finally get around to it 😋😋

The Eye Collector wants something from Nathan, and it's about time we find out what. THE EYE COLLECTOR #5 takes Nathan through the surreal Valleys of the Moon and the haunting Valley of Eyeless Dolls as he tries to break free from a corrupted family legacy. Also featuring the first appearance of Malalkin the Minion.
