Looking back at his journey to parenthood, single dad Jonathon, who went through surrogacy in Mexico City, now sees his biggest obstacle in his journey as his greatest blessing.

"My first round of embryo creation, and then the subsequent embryo transfer, was not successful," he explains.

"I had to pay another 25k for an egg retrieval with a new egg donor. This time, the embryo creation yielded 11 super strong embryos, and Jonathan was conceived after a successful first embryo transfer."

Looking back at his journey, Jonathon realized that the difference between the first and second cycles was that for the first, unsuccessful cycle he used frozen eggs from an egg bank, versus an actual egg donor in the second cycle.

"Because we were in the middle of the pandemic, I chose frozen eggs for that first, unsuccessful attempt," he explains. "With clinic visits being very scarce during COVID, I thought frozen eggs would be easiest. However, I later learned that egg retrieval and immediate embryo creation usually yields more successful embryo creation."

"Now I always recommend avoiding frozen eggs, if at all possible. It was a big challenge, but I say it was a blessing because it resulted in my son."

Fertility experts say that despite the relatively lower cost of frozen eggs, the overall success rate of embryo creation is indeed higher when done before freezing the eggs. Frozen embryos, however, have no effect on success rates.

Our 4th Father’s Day together, Daddy, and as always, it was busy. It was fun! It was, as you like to always say “so yummy!” And it was filled with love! 1. Ice cream cake for breakfast. 2. Caviar brunch in rowboats in Central Park. 3. Fraggle Rock on Broadway. 4. Nap. 5. Dinner at Milly’s with one of my NY besties. I love you daddy!! #centralpark #fragglerock #caviar #fathersday #love

Celebrating the Many Ways Families Are Built

Recently, Gays With Kids shared the inspiring story of Jonathon, a single father from New York who pursued surrogacy in Mexico and welcomed his son through a journey that demonstrates the power of determination, love, and modern family building.

We are honored that Miracle Surrogacy was part of that journey and grateful to organizations like Gays With Kids for continuing to highlight the diverse paths to parenthood available to LGBTQ+ individuals and single parents.

Stories like Jonathon’s remind us that families are not defined by traditional structures. They are defined by commitment, love, and the desire to create a nurturing home for a child.

As more intended parents explore family-building options, visibility matters. Every story shared helps future parents see what is possible and reassures them that they are not alone in their journey.

At Miracle Surrogacy, we remain committed to helping intended parents from around the world navigate their path to parenthood with compassion, transparency, and support every step of the way.

Thank you to Gays With Kids for continuing to amplify these important stories and for helping create a more inclusive future for all families.
