After just over two years, we’re so excited to reopen @15romolo . Jon and I have been putting our hearts into bringing it back, and having our kids involved makes this chapter feel especially sweet.

Meet our son Giovanni: a UCSB applied mathematics graduate who loves to cook. Now he’s bringing that love to our kitchen.

Before it was 15 Romolo, this space was the Basque Hotel Restaurant. I’m from Boise, where Basque culture runs deep, so Gio joined me there for a week of eating and learning. Dan Ansotegui from @ansotsboise , a 2026 James Beard finalist for Outstanding Hospitality, graciously took Gio under his wing, teaching him family recipes, including bacalao croquettes, and encouraging him to bring them to our menu. Dan and his family are the definition of hospitality, and we’re so grateful.

Meanwhile, our daughter Franny spent the summer interning with Marcia at @tablehopper and just wrote a wonderful piece about the Basque Hotel’s history. Go give it a read!

One kid in the kitchen, one digging through the archives, and two very proud parents. We can’t wait to welcome you back.

After a killer pizza feast at @jules.pza with @jongasparini & @kellyannegasparini, headed to our spirits industry friend, @jgspiritguide's epic birthday party on March 28 at @rickhousebar and downstairs at @gingerssf.

Josh is also a musician (shows around SF: www.facebook.com/JuiceGelf) and he and his musician friends kept us happily dancing at this great reunion of drink industry pals.
