This weeks one to Watch is the wonderful @jongcomedy 👏🏻

Jon originally moved from Preston to Manchester for the Arts Scene and has been an active member of musical theatre in Manchester for a number of years, his roles often ended up leaning into comedic character acting throughout.

Jon has been a fan of stand up since Eddie Murphy’s Delirious came out when he was ten years old and ‘blew his tiny mind’. Not only influenced by Eddie, Jon is also a huge fan of Maria Bamford, Marc Maron and Bill Hicks leading to his comedy style developing into more of a storyteller.

Thanks to the theatre background Jon felt really confident on stage even from his first open mic, meaning after finally deciding to take the plunge and first try stand up he found he took to it immediately.

Jon regularly performs on the Manchester comedy scene, along side this Jon runs his own show - Stand Up To MND, a regular comedy showcase night in aid of the incredible MND Association, in the last year alone the show has raised over £6,000 for the charity, whilst offering over 40 comics valuable stage time and with every single show fully sold out!

Jon is doing great work for the Manchester comedy scene and is also progressing nicely as a comedian, This year he was a semi finalist in So You Think You’re Funny and travelled to Edinburgh festival to perform his debut sets.

You can find Jon performing regularly throughout the North and Midlands and can be spotted frequently hosting at venues such as Fuel and the Fitzgerald. Jon still performs in theatre productions with two plays Middle (Altrincham Garrick) and Gaslight (Altrincham Little Theatre) in the coming months. Stand Up To MND 5 - the birthday celebration is on Saturday November 14th but be quick these tickets sell quick!

With storytelling that draws you in, Punchlines that knock you back and a confident delivery to match we know Jon G is one to watch!
