July 4th 💥 Pancakes, painting, party outside! Love love this holiday. 🇺🇸 Grateful for this country and the beautiful people and places in it.

On the shortest day of the year, I propped my phone up on the riverbank and aimed it at our usual spot, dark yet always inviting, right on the edge of the current. This was the largest our Solstice group had ever been--mothers, daughters, friends, gathering to celebrate the return of light. ⁣
⁣
I’d hoped to capture it all on video, but had to laugh when I watched it back that night; there were so many of us--most had moved almost entirely out of the frame. Women overflowing a winter river, what a sight! I watched over and over again, smiling at my friends, and I saw it: women making room for each other. ⁣
⁣
As someone stepped into the water, we shifted. We reached out our hands to let another in, moved across the water and further into the current, widening the circle again and again. Mothers, daughters, friends--our ages covered four different decades. Can I tell you something? This next generation of girls is the best there’s ever been. ⁣
⁣
Women in the river--some stood tall, some dipped down to their shoulders, some held their breath and sank under the surface, there is no wrong way. We giggled, we howled, we inhaled and exhaled, we loosened our grips, tightening with a new hand to hold. Holding on to those that held us. In the river, in life.⁣
⁣
Women are constantly giving. Our time, our energy, our love, our laughter and tears. We give our bodies to bring new life. We give, we give, we give. And on the shortest day of the year, clocks ticking away precious daylight, we reached out, stood strong in the current, we made room. For those quick few minutes, our collective breath rising to the sky, we received each other's hands. ⁣

Mothers, daughters, friends, surround yourselves with those who will always make room🤍

Can you please join us tomorrow morning for a New Years Eve sunrise on Malans Peak? It’s been way too long and I think we can do this carefully and enjoy the winter morning together. Start at the 27th Street trailhead in Ogden by 7am. Start on your own, or wait for others as we very casually hike to the peak. Please bring traction for your shoes and a face covering for when we’re all at the peak as we ring in the New Year and kiss 2020 goodbye. Have questions? Ask away or send a DM. ❄️🎉🤍

I can’t say enough about the friendship these two beauties have. They have had each other’s backs through thick-n-thin the past few years and I am so glad. Emma came into Kenady’s life when she truly needed her and it was an answer to my prayers! They are graduating this next week and it is bittersweet for me.
