@flyhenleyair , @jonker_sailplanes and @ontracktechnologies unveiled Peregrine Aerospace at the AISI 20-Year Commemoration, held during AAD 2026 at Air Force Base Waterkloof. Hosted by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), the event marked two decades of the Aerospace Industry Support Initiative, an initiative of the dtic hosted and managed by the CSIR. It also concluded Henley Air’s AISI-supported Bell 222/230 camera mount development programme. During the ceremony, Henley Air Group Executive Chairman Dr Andre Coetzee presented a commemorative plaque to the dtic before signing the Peregrine Aerospace founding declaration alongside Uys Jonker, Director of Jonker Sailplanes, and AP Kotze, Managing Director of On-Track Technologies. The Peregrine Bell 222 helicopter showcased at AAD 2026 this week is intended to be the first of three experimentally certified “Flying Test Laboratories” for ongoing design, development, upgrade and modernisation solutions. These aircraft will support the Henley 222 Legacy Twin project while providing a broader-spectrum test-platform service offering. The partners intend to establish Peregrine Aerospace as a jointly owned, SACAA-approved aircraft design organisation. The proposed structure will combine Henley Air’s rotorcraft operational and maintenance experience, Jonker Sailplanes’ aircraft design and manufacturing capability, and On-Track Technologies’ precision engineering and composite manufacturing expertise. The declaration records the partners’ shared intent. Corporate establishment, regulatory applications, scope of work and implementation remain subject to definitive agreements and the applicable South African Civil Aviation Authority approval processes.

Livno delivered everything we came for — thermals, waves, convergences… amazing views, great company and some seriously good flying. We filmed a bit along the way. 😉 👨‍✈️ // Boštjan, Jože, Žiga, Luka 🎥 // @ziga_pristavec 🔥🙏 and @luka_hojnik 📍 // @aeroklublivno . . #soaring #gliding #flying #aviation #aviationlovers

The road to Livno never feels like just a road. With every kilometre, the landscape grows wilder—vast plains, mighty mountains and an ever-expanding sky. And somewhere along the way, the anticipation starts to build. You know what is waiting: big skies, powerful thermals—and days spent chasing them. There is something almost mystical about this place. Rugged and remote, yet somehow warm and welcoming. Maybe it is the light, the landscape, the vast open spaces—or simply the feeling of being here. Whatever it is, Livno has a way of staying with you. It certainly has with me. And for a glider pilot, it is almost impossible to resist. Nine days, almost 60 hours in the air and nearly 6,000 km of soaring—from Croatian Lika in the northwest to Montenegro’s Durmitor in the southeast. Crazy thermals, mountain waves, rotors, long glides and ever-changing skies. But the numbers tell only a fraction of the story. What stays with you is the feeling of moving silently above this immense landscape, watching mountains and plains unfold beneath you. And then comes the landing. You open the canopy and the cockpit fills with the intoxicating scent of wildflowers and herbs from Livanjsko Polje, growing even along the runway. After hours in the sky, that scent brings you straight back to earth. Some places you visit. Some places you keep coming back to. Livno is definitely the latter. Then there are the fellow glider pilots—friends we meet here year after year. And places are also made by the people who welcome you. Goc once again took care of everything—from organising the flying and briefings, to towing us into the sky and somehow still finding the energy to cook dinner in the evening. All with incredible dedication and care, making sure everything ran safely and smoothly. This year, with a great helping hand from Anna. Goc and Anna—thank you for the hospitality, the friendship, and for making Livno feel like coming home. 💙 Until next time. // 📷 Epic a2a pics of BL by @ziga_pristavec 🔥🙏 . . #soaring #gliding #flying #aviation #aviationlovers
