StartCare’s story has been deeply rooted in Harlem.

Our connection to this community goes back decades, when our founder, Dr. Beny J. Primm, expanded StartCare’s work into Harlem and helped establish a legacy of compassionate, community-centered care that continues today.

This October, we’re proud to return to the neighborhood that helped shape our mission.

Watching this recap brings me right back to the joy, connection, and possibility we shared at the Nexus Women’s Leadership Conference.

Women across sectors gathered in New York City to learn, exchange ideas, prioritize their wellbeing, and take meaningful steps toward what comes next.

What stays with me most are the conversations, the generosity of our speakers, and the women who left inspired and ready to act with new connections, leadership commitments, and goals for the next 90 days.

Thank you to our speakers, volunteers, and every woman who brought her voice into the room. I’m deeply grateful to TD Bank, Brooklyn.org, The New York Women’s Foundation, and Women.nyc for helping bring this vision to life.

As we continue building the Nexus Collective, I’m excited to see what grows from the relationships that began here.

Enjoy a glimpse of our day and if you joined us, share a moment that has stayed with you! If you weren't able to attend, make sure to join our mailing list to hear about upcoming events and resources.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Brooklyn Health & Resource Fair!

With the support of our community partners, 45 vendors, and incredible resources, including health screenings, mammogram and prostate screening vans, the FDNY truck, and the NYPD Community Affairs Rock Wall, we brought valuable services and resources directly to our community.

A special shout-out to Senator Jabari Brisport, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Councilmember Crystal Hudson, and Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest for their continued support of StartCare’s mission to promote health and wellness across our communities.

Every child deserves a strong start to the school year. I’m proud to partner with Start Care, East New York, to provide book bags and school supplies 📓📚 giving back to hundreds of our community’s children, to help provide them with that strong start.

StartCare East New York, continues to serve as a key community partner, providing back to school support for our community’s young people, in addition to vital services for some of our community’s most vulnerable.

Thank you to StartCare Executive Director, @jonneldoris and his team @startcare_ny for another successful Back to School giveback event
