A rainy but memorable weekend at @urbanbirdfest 2026! Showcasing Chicago’s birds and nature is one of my life’s passions. And getting to spread that Bird Joy with @wiscobirder was an absolute honor! I had a blast at the festival in getting back together with friends to share our love for birds— From Dexter’s talk at Birds & Brews, nerding out about archaeopteryx, sharing laughs all night at @extremelyaccuratebirds comedy-concert, and diving into ethno-ornithology of hummingbirds with @emdeblas.

Cheers to another year of celebrating our wildly wonderful world!

The Urban Birding Festival wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated organizing members from @chicago_birder, @chicago.bipoc.birders, @chicagobirdalliance, @fbc_chi, @redhillbirding, and @windycitybirdlab

Thanks to everyone for coming out for the @chicagophotoclasses Photo Meetup at The Grove this week. Here are some iPhone snaps along the way (including capturing a turtle kicking another turtle in the face 🤷🏻‍♀️🐢😆). Please tag me if you post photos— would love to see them!

Chicagohenge - 3/21/26 - A Peak of the Sun
.
Going out this morning…didn’t think I’d see much but then there was a faint color on the horizon at about 6:15 am. By 6:30 am the sky was on fire but still didn’t know if we would see the sun with the low cloud deck. At 6:55 am we just saw the tip of the sun before the clouds quickly covered it back up. Glad I ventured out!
.
Captured with @dji and underexposed the shot in order to get details of the sun.
