About four months ago I asked myself one of those dangerous “what if” questions…
What if we ran LA again — but this time with a plan?

Shoutout to @goodvibes_tc — love every one of you crazy people. The care, the planning, the energy… unmatched. My training block wasn’t perfect (whose is?), but sometimes all you need is a group that keeps showing up every week and reminding you what you’re capable of.

Huge shoutout to @vannanegron415 for pacing and making sure we didn’t overcook it while still running her own race, you killed it! And to all the people along the course who showed up to party and cheer — especially my @talithakaena ❤️

Wild what can happen when you actually put the work in.

Behind every finish line is a lot of early mornings, tired legs and a lot of people who helped you get there.

So many people to thank. This training block was hands down the most grueling experience I’ve ever put my body and mind through.

First, my wife Katie. Not too long after our wedding, I jumped straight into marathon training mode. Katie’s love language is quality time and that definitely took a hit with all the miles, early mornings, and long weekends on the road. Through it all she showed incredible patience. The mood swings that come with hard training, my obsessive personality dialing everything in, she handled it all with grace. When I woke up on race day and saw the note she left for me, it gave me the confidence I needed to go out there and execute.

My team, my squad, my friends, Good Vibes Track Club. We spent way too much time together 😂 but every mile and every second mattered. The training pushed our minds and bodies to places we hadn’t gone before. The support, the laughs, the accountability, the community… Good Vibes is something special.

My captains 📢 Marv, Coza, Rhetta, Daniela, and Simon. Truly a group of selfless individuals. The passion you pour into running such a high-level program is remarkable. From the weekly schedules to the strategic long run routes, the level of detail is unreal. Because of you, we all showed up to the LA start line prepared to take on a tough course.

Mi familia ♥️ thank you for the cheers, the encouragement, and the unconditional love you give me every single day.

My clients 💪🏼 week after week asking how I was feeling, listening to me complain about being tired, and watching me hobble around the gym after long runs. Thank you for lifting me up and supporting me through the entire process.

And lastly, everyone who sent messages over the past few weeks. When doubt started creeping in, that positive energy lifted me up and kept me moving forward.

It takes a village.
Thank you all for being part of mine.

Ending the year with a renewed love for running. For a while I was a bit disenchanted with it. It took running on my own for a majority of the year and exploring my neighborhood to remember what makes running so special. It’s the ability to move on your own two feet and see so many sights. Hear many interesting sounds. Towards the end of the year getting back into marathon training I remembered the excitement that comes with running in a group. The feeling of closeness and the bonds you form with other runners as you push through difficult workouts. The year ends but the running doesn’t. Tomorrow it continues and we pick right back up where we left off. A different year but the progress continues.

True life: I survived Chicago!! 🙏🏽
I’m just a tourist tryin to do touristy things…it’s my friends that always do the most & by nature I’m just a very supportive person!! You ever witnessed somebody have a mental breakdown & get offered to get choked out as a solution?!? Probably not!! Or walk over a mile for a sausage?!? Me either(no matter what kind it was)!!☺️

We went out to support our fellow teammates who crushed the Chicago Marathon(CONGRATS Y’ALL🎉), but had a whole lotta fun in between…from sightseeing, boat cruises, soccer mom vans, learning about the Sears Tower, some people overcame their fear of heights, and others overcame their fear of bicycles!! Many of great times were had & that’s what makes these trips worthwhile!! 🙌🏽
