POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I've received a few text and emails this morning over this collaboration asking my opinion about it. After some thought and seeing what comments have been made on it via social media I feel I can weigh in on it now. So I first would like to clarify some things, The people behind this Supreme x TNF collab are O.G. in this TNF subculture. I know at least one person involved in putting this together. If you don't know NYC fashion culture the early 90's into the mid 2000's were the years in which TNF was the outerwear of choice. Now we are all aware of the technical aspects of TNF products the reason behind rocking these jackets were the exclusivity of having them. In the 90's having a 4-600 dollar jacket was like having $2000 jacket. Which meant the average person didn't have one and if you did and didn't have any clout you face the possibility of being robbed for it. Soho on bway was a place that could happen at anytime. If you wrote graff in the 90's you racked them. There were crews like RFC and TDK this was there uniform. Wu rocked them in their videos. Now this particular jacket was a Bronx dude jacket only a hand full of people out side of the Bronx had one. This release is born out of nostalgia. I've been seeing posts about Sean Wotherspoon and others being the result of this release. Now I have no issue with Sean or anyone else for that matter but I must reiterate that the people involved in this were around in this era way before the Wotherspoon's of the social media universe. Their nostalgia brought it back nothing else. As far as my opinion, I like the jacket Supreme improved the design while keeping the original esthetic and they stayed away from the original colors while pulling color palettes from other items released from the line as well as their own. They stayed true by keeping it gore-tex. Now for those that may question my statements as Cam'ron would say "you wasn't there" I was I've had every color of this jacket with the exception of the pink and that was by choice. Was around before VGA days and am still holding 30 plus jackets of that era and the original inspiration for this jacket. As Tommy Rebel would say, words from The TNF king.
