Thanks to @jonpountney for joining our Year 2 Photography Degree students today for such an inspiring and thought-provoking guest speaker talk. Jon Pountney is a documentary photographer and artist who has been documenting Wales for over 20 years. Jon encouraged our students to think about what drives them as photographers, how they develop their own visual voice and, in a world saturated with images, what makes their work stand out.

Do you know Karen? 🧶🖌️🎨 Ydych chi’n adnabod Karen? Many people in Caerphilly will know Karen as the owner of @ygalericaerffili_, showcasing work from makers across Wales. But when she took over almost five years ago, Karen had to learn everything from scratch… even how to use the tills! Since then, she’s created a space where Welsh creativity can be discovered, shared and celebrated. Who else brings creativity to their Caerphilly community? Nominate them using the link in our bio :) #caerphillycommunity #caerphillyart #welshcreatives #welshmakers #caerphilly Mae llawer o bobl yng Nghaerffili yn adnabod Karen fel perchennog @ygalericaerffili_, sy’n arddangos gwaith gan artistiaid a chrefftwyr o bob cwr o Gymru. Ond pan gymerodd Karen yr awenau bron i bum mlynedd yn ôl, bu’n rhaid iddi ddysgu popeth o’r newydd… hyd yn oed sut i ddefnyddio’r tiliau! Ers hynny, mae hi wedi creu gofod lle gall pobl ddarganfod, rhannu a dathlu creadigrwydd Cymru. Pwy arall sy’n dod â chreadigrwydd i’w cymuned yng Nghaerffili? Enwebwch nhw gan ddefnyddio’r ddolen yn ein bio :)

Nominate someone using the link in our bio! #caerphilly #caerphillycommunity #caerphillycreatives #caerffilicreadigol #caerffili Selected nominees will be celebrated as part of a special photography exhibition at Y Banc this October, with their stories and creativity brought into the spotlight by professional photographer @jonpountney They’ll also be invited to a celebratory evening at Y Banc, bringing together some of the people making a difference across Caerphilly. Nominate them before the 31st August! Remember creativity exists everywhere, not just in the arts! You could nominate someone who has solved a problem in their community, started a brilliant new business, found a unique way to bring people together, or simply found something they’re passionate about that brings creativity, joy or purpose into their life. Got someone in mind? Nominate using the link in our bio! :) Galw ar gymuned Caerffili! Mae angen eich cymorth arnom i ddod o hyd i’r meddylwyr creadigol, y rhai sy’n datrys problemau, y rhai sy’n llunio syniadau a’r bobl frwdfrydig sy’n gwneud Caerffili yn lle gwell i fyw ynddo. Caiff yr unigolion a ddewisir eu dathlu fel rhan o arddangosfa ffotograffiaeth arbennig yn Y Banc ym mis Hydref, gyda’u straeon a’u creadigrwydd yn cael eu hamlygu gan y ffotograffydd proffesiynol @jonpountney Byddant hefyd yn cael eu gwahodd i noson ddathlu yn Y Banc, gan ddod â rhai o’r bobl sy’n gwneud gwahaniaeth ledled Caerffili at ei gilydd. Cofiwch fod creadigrwydd yn bodoli ym mhobman, nid yn unig yn y celfyddydau! Gallwch enwebu rhywun sydd wedi datrys problem yn eu cymuned, wedi cychwyn busnes newydd gwych, wedi dod o hyd i ffordd unigryw o ddod â phobl at ei gilydd, neu’n syml wedi dod o hyd i rywbeth maen nhw’n angerddol yn ei gylch sy’n dod â chreadigrwydd, llawenydd neu bwrpas i’w bywydau. Oes gennych chi rywun mewn golwg? Enwebwch nhw cyn y 31ain o Awst!
