Crew Spotlight: Director of Photography Jon Schweigart

Every film set needs that one person who never seems rattled… and for Kill Virus, that was Jon.

Jon worked with Stephen on several films over the years, so they already had a great creative rhythm and friendship. Bringing him onto Kill Virus was a no-brainer.

Now, pairing an experienced DP with a first-time director? That could’ve been a recipe for a few gray hairs. 😄 But Jon never missed a beat. Calm, cool, collected, and armed with plenty of great ideas, he helped turn challenges into opportunities and elevated the film every step of the way.

Whether it was finding a better camera angle, suggesting a creative solution, or quietly making movie magic happen behind the lens, Jon’s vision made a real impact on Kill Virus.

The best part? He’s not only incredibly talented—he’s also just plain easy to work with. Every production should be lucky enough to have a Jon on set.

Thanks, Jon, for helping make Kill Virus look so good… and for not running away when the first-time director asked for “just one more take.” 😉 #indiefilm #behindthescenes #womeninfilm #horrorfilm

It was clear while making this film that Don Scribner was delivering something special, so it's incredibly rewarding to see his performance receiving the recognition it deserves.

Behind the scenes of The Paper Doll a short film about seeing, hearing, and advocating for immigrants searching for freedom, dignity, and hope.
As an immigrant pastor who came from Iran seeking freedom in America, this project is deeply personal to me. I never imagined that one day I would stand surrounded by so many beautiful souls — church members from Cornerstone, artist friends I’ve worked beside for years, all coming together to create something meaningful through art,and storytelling.
This film was born from listening to real stories. Stories of pain, courage, displacement, and survival inside a broken immigration system.
I’m deeply thankful to writer Sara Lahoot for allowing me to join her as co-writer and help shape this vision into one story that speaks for many voices we have encountered over the last few months.
The Paper Doll is more than a film.
A human cry to be seen.
A reminder that behind every immigration case is a real person, a real family, and a real story.
Some stories are too important to stay silent.
Thank you to every person who gave their heart, time, talent, and faith to this project.
