A matchbox model of a Porsche 930 Turbo gifted at age six ignited Jon Stevenson’s lifelong passion for cars, while the Bond icons and later a rusty Lancia Fulvia from eBay kept the fire burning. After 25 years working in the City, he traded finance for brushes, following his portrait-painter grandfather into art. Today, Jon paints the classics he adores – often in acrylic – with Porsche frequently emerging as a favourite, as seen here.

✨ Member Spotlight Guild of Motoring Artists ✨

From the City to the canvas 🎨🚗

Jon Stevenson is a professional automotive artist based in Hertfordshire, whose paintings have found homes in some of the most notable private collections in the UK. His collaborations include Porsche Retail, Jaguar Heritage, Tuthill, Escapade Silverstone and classic Porsche specialists Export 56.

His work has been featured in Classic Porsche and 911 & Porsche World and shown at prestigious events including Savile Row Concours, Supercar Driver Secret Meet at Silverstone, Megaphonics at Boxengasse, and multiple GMA exhibitions at the Royal Automobile Club.

After 25 years as a banking lawyer at Clifford Chance and JPMorgan, Jon turned his lifelong passion for cars into a professional art career in 2022. Focusing on Porsche, including his own 356A which he drove in the 2024 Targa Florio, he also has a love for Italian classics having owned Lancias, Fiats and Alfa Romeos.

Working mainly in large scale acrylic on canvas, Jon captures reflections, angles and moments that highlight design features and bring automotive icons vividly to life. He works primarily on commission, travelling to meet clients and ensuring each piece is perfectly in tune with its subject and setting.

Jon says, “I am delighted to have the chance to display 20 artworks at the Picture Gallery. It’s rare for an artist to see all their artwork hanging, so I am grateful to the Royal Automobile Club and the Guild of Motoring Artists for this opportunity.”

📅 Friday 26 September to Friday 24 October
📍 The exhibition takes place at the Royal Automobile Club, a private members club.
✨ If you would like to view the exhibition please contact Jon directly to arrange.
