One of my (biased) top 3 local shops in SD is hands down @joonshoppe 💛 Spending 5 minutes in this sister-owned, delightfully colorful gift shop in North Park will boost your mood.

I broke up with Amazon, and JOON is my personal go-to for thoughtful gifts. Kristin + Ashley have the most creative finds AND champion local, independent, BIPOC- and women-owned brands.

So, of course, JOON Shoppe said YES to supporting our Table For Many raffle!

Join us Thursday, October 29 at 5:30 PM! Tickets are on sale now (link in bio), and each ticket includes food, drink and a raffle entry for a chance to win prizes from incredible local businesses, like a JOON Shoppe-curated gift bundle — complete with a gift card so you can shop for yourself, too!

Is it weird that I feel more at home walking in this city than I do walking in San Diego? 🥹

For my birthday this year, I went to San Diego, a gentle reminder that peace and beauty don’t always require traveling across ocean waters. Between wandering through the farmers market and browsing local shops, I found a gem at Joonshoppe: a 100% cotton, 300 gsm watercolor sketchbook by Menmin Made. I also had my eye on a sleek notebook bag by the same designer. I’m completely hooked on her work and hope to visit one of her pop-up shops down the line.
I’ve decided to dedicate this sketchbook to paintings of movies I love. I chose a scene from A Pale View of the Hills, adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel.
Inspired by my favorite artists on social media, I tried out Holbein acrylic gouache again for this piece. It felt a bit thick and gooey at first, but after posting on my stories, a few people suggested adding water, which made it much easier to use. Color mixing is still a challenge for me, but I had so much fun. I’m excited to experiment more with gouache and try my Kuretake watercolors next, since they have a similarly thick consistency.

Yesterday at Joon was such a special day.

Thank you to everyone who came by — familiar and new faces, friends, neighbors, and everyone who took a chance on something from our little table.

A very special thank you to Joon for hosting us so thoughtfully, and made us feel so welcomed from beginning to end.

Days like yesterday mean a lot. Merci Merci is still small, and every person who shows up, says hello, buys a bun or two, shares kind words, or comes back again makes this worth it.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you 🧡
