POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Synopsis:

In the early 2020s, longtime English professor Derrick Credito created a widely-read blog about his personal intersections with musicians in his eclectic hometown scene. When combined, those Baltimore-based stories would plant a seed for Credito’s candid autobiographical account, The Bohemian Years: a Charm City Memoir on Life, Death, and Music.

Through the years, Credito connects and collaborates with Baltimore’s mystics, poets, rockers, and rebels. Each of them plays a supportive, inspiring role in Credito’s unforgettable journey as a multi-instrumental performer and fiction author.

This is the story of a scholarly small-town rebel who spends his young adult years traveling the globe without a clear focus. Back home in Baltimore, Credito eventually finds his way with a little help from his friends. Losing his brother Ryan to drugs and ultimately finding joy in starting a family of his own, Derrick Credito goes to the edge and back again. Passionate and personable, The Bohemian Years is a twenty-first century music memoir that illustrates the power of community, as well as the integrity and good-hearted grit that defines Baltimoreans.
