A heartbreaker of a weekend at CKNA Grands X…

In light we qualified 5th and dominated the heat races by winning two and being in the fight in the other. In the final we ran up front the whole race but coming through the last corner another driver decided to not brake and took us out of contention. Still ended up with a hard fought 5th position trophy.

In medium we had a rough qualifying that was out of our control. We ended up being in an incident that forced me to cut the track. After driving from 24th-2nd we got a DQ for the track cut even after purposely falling back to the position where I left the track in. Due to this I started 42nd in heat 2, with the mindset of keeping my head in it I drove from 42nd-5th in that heat race. With a 2nd in the last heat I gave myself a manageable starting spot of 18th in the final where I drove to 2nd after a few laps but just kept getting the short end of the stick and getting drove off track multiple times led me out of contention for the race win.

To say the least, this one stings. I drove my ass off and it felt like it was me against fate. I’m pretty confident in saying that I had the fastest go karts in both classes with the @vlrkarts and @lawsonspeedshop packages. My dad and I worked flawlessly this together this weekend and nailed the setup about every single timed session. However, the weekends over now and there’s nothing I can do about the results. I would like to thank VLR, RLV, Lawson Speed Shop, my favorite mechanic/my dad, my mom, my grandpa, the rest of my family watching at home, Miranda, Geoff Shaw/Shaw Stickers, my teammate Dylan Amundsen/Reserve Motorsports, and everyone else behind the scenes supporting me.

Stars Night Fight 🌌

A weekend with overall disappointing results, but man I love the struggle. We ended up P27 in the final after being in the LCQ due to some rough luck. Only looking at the results of the weekend would be a waste of the weekend and i’m really trying to focus on the development that I received throughout my experience at a new track and my second KA national.

I just wanna thank everyone who gave me this opportunity those people include my parents, @joshhotzdriverdevelopment and Josh Hotz, Aj Roderick, the Heckman family, Matt and James Overbeck, Tommy Shereck, The Sutherland family, Jay Martineau and Caleb G on the wrenches. I truly hope I didn’t miss anyone but I am so grateful for everyone that stands behind me on my journey.
