London photographer Joshua Jackson used photography as a way to escape the frustrations of insomnia.

Beginning in 2017, Joshua spent three years venturing out to capture candid images of the neon-lit streets of Soho.

Through his photos, he observes the Soho of today and the faded character of its past.

Sleepless in Soho is Joshua K. Jackson’s debut monograph.
For three years, Jackson walked through the lamp-lit and neon-filled streets of Soho, turning to photography initially as a way to escape the frustrations of insomnia.

Jackson’s work from this period, reveals the complex and intense atmosphere in London’s best known entertainment district — observing the juxtaposition between the Soho of today and the faded character of its past.

Joshua K. Jackson is a London based street and social documentary photographer. @joshkjack utilises his knowledge of light, texture and colour to bring the story of each image to fruition. No matter the genre of photography, each photograph he takes tells their own story. Even though each photo has an extensive colour pallette, they are all in relation to each other by his meticulous use of the camera and his adamant choice of wanting to ‘capture a moment’.

JOSHUA K. JACKSON [@joshkjack]… Continuing our run of brilliant street photographers, here's another rising star. London's very own... "I started street photography just under three years ago and haven’t looked back since. It’s the unpredictability that excites me - every day brings you something new and unexpected.
My approach is to head out with no expectations. I move around the city constantly and react spontaneously to whatever catches my eye. Most days bring nothing but with perseverance the photos slowly come to you.

People have often described my photos as mysterious. I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to mask the obvious to present an unfamiliar view of a familiar city. Colour is another central theme in my work - helping illustrate the vibrancy of life in the urban environment.
