We threw a dinner party

I remember being a teenager and like…….OBVIOUSLY bi but also unendingly confused about what it even meant to be attracted to someone. As in, I actually once googled “how to know you’re attracted to someone.” Turned out! I knew, but it was nowhere near as obvious or categorical as anyone seemed to let on. Fast forward to last week- I got to partner with the exquisite @3rdspace.3rdspace on a dinner for queer and trans tastemakers and creatives in New York, as part of my team’s work on Spotify GLOW. I won’t say 15 y.o Carl would be screaming because she’d probably be like…wait are you sure we’re a little gay???? Shouldn’t we Google am I gay quizzes first?? But 15 y.o Carl would be happy we’re happy (and we are so, so happy)

Thank you to @jakesackss @chischisschissy @becca_cress @saramadani for being World’s Greatest Team and for being generally fun to be around all the time. Nothing w/o you (don’t yell at me I know I’m fun to be around too)

did you know clairo is in a band called shelly? 🐚🎧

the group was formed by claire cotrill, claud, josh mehling, and noa getzug who all met in school at syracuse, and their first music as a band came together in 2020 when they were sending voice memos to each other when the world was shut down

in october of that year they released a self-titled two pack of songs that included ‘natural’ and ‘steeeam,’ the latter of which has since been certified gold and sits at nearly 200 million streams on spotify alone

5 years later shelly put out shelly 2 that also contained a pair of singles, ‘cross your mind’ and ‘hartwell,’ with their only other song being a feature on claud’s album called ‘falling with the rain’

the group didn’t perform ‘steeeam’ together until 2025 at coachella during clairo’s set, and they occasionally do limited releases of vinyl or merch (which i was lucky to get a 45” vinyl of shelly 1 from btw) if you’re interested in keeping up with them

Vol 30 in loving partnership with @spotify GLOW.

Forever grateful for the opportunity to convene 36 inspiring gay and trans artists across nyc.

@hugoheinzz cooked for us. @evansagadencky and @tommy.dorfman gave us an early screening of @gladyoureherefilm. Then @kevatwater and @patrickjlinehan screened short narrative work from Kevin’s new album before he played live.

In honor of vol 30, Spotify GLOW made a generous donation to @lgbtcenternyc, a non profit established in 1983 at the height of the AIDS crisis to provide a safe place for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.

Thank you again to Spotify GLOW for enabling this special night and partnership
