“Man I wish I was creative” - @grace_moore27 (graduated in film)

shout out to @0_pht4 for the wonderful photos at the beginning

That’s so Webster…

Of course Grace and I didn’t bring the right stuff. I didn’t have my tassel. Grace brought a different tassel and had the wrong stole (school in Georgia). Classic!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting with Joshua Johnson, an award-winning filmmaker, educator, and creative leader whose work spans film, television, and animation. As an Assistant Professor at Webster University, Josh is helping to shape the next generation of storytellers while continuing his own cinematic journey.

We talked about the current and future state of the film industry, the importance of accessible training and opportunities right here in Missouri, and what it takes to get started in this ever-evolving business.

Josh gave me a tour of Webster University’s incredible film and media facilities, featuring:

🎥 A soundstage with the region’s first LED Wall for virtual production. This is the same groundbreaking technology used in The Mandalorian.
🎧 An integrated audio suite with Dolby Atmos, live sound rooms, and isolation booths.
🛠️ A workshop for prop creation, model building, and game prototyping.
🎮 Labs and programs in Film, Television, Animation, Game Design, Photography, and Sound Recording.
🍿 The historic Webster Film Series, a cinematic institution since 1979, which showcases national and international works year-round.

Seeing firsthand how Webster is investing in the creative future of our region including state of the art equipment, facility renovations, and award winning experiencd faculty, reaffirms that Missouri has the talent, technology, and heart to be a true filmmaking hub.

I am looking forward to exploring the future of film all across Missouri Valley and will continue to post resources and opportunities across my platforms. Be sure to follow me @theshannonlaine

🎓I’m officially a College Graduate. An absolutely amazing 4 year experience; made some amazing friends, worked along side numerous talented film makers, worked under several Incredible professors, etc. there have been a few road bumps along the way, but I wouldn’t change a single thing.

Huge thank you to the many students and teachers for making me feel welcome, and of course my loving family who supported me every step of the way. None of this would be possible without any one of their help.

I’ll be looking forward to continue working along side you all in the future!!!
