This month, our #ReadChristie2026 theme is 'Beloved Character(s)', and we picked Mrs McGinty's Dead as it features not one but two of Christie's iconic creations, Hercule Poirot and Ariadne Oliver ✨

Who's your most beloved Christie character?

Read Christie 2026

It’s a BIG one next year! For #readchristie2026 the theme is Biggest, Best, Beloved, which basically means I can read all my very favourite Christie novels ALL year. It is an absolute result!

January’s prompt is best opening with the official choice of The Body In The Library. I am going to get my thinking cap on and spend some time staring at my books to decide if any others warrant this title.

With it being the 50th anniversary of Christie’s death and publication of Sleeping Murder to the 100th anniversary of the brilliant The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd, there will be a lot of time for Christie next year. Head to @officialagathachristie for all the info and sign up to the newsletter so you can download your own card.

Will you join in with #readchristie2026 ?

I've wanted to do this for a while now...

I started reading Discworld 2 years ago on my first year of uni, and over this time I've steadily progressed through the series, going on many adventures and meeting so many characters. Reading any of these books feel like a warm hug, an escapism breaking from the stress during term.

And before I know it, I'm halfway through, then more -- so I wonder, how far am I along the series?

Aaaand... Can I finish it before graduation next summer?

Being a mood reader, I should start to plan instead, given this goal is achievable if I don't get sidetracked (which would certainly happen, I'm sorry).

But even if I don't manage to finish them all in time, I'm happy to get to this point already!

So, if you're still here -- what's your favourite Discworld book? How far are you along this series?
Or if you haven't started yet, I'd definitely recommend this series!

Hello lovely bookworms ❤️ This is my first autumnal book stack of the season 🍁 Thank you to Sarah @fictional_escapades and Kate @cragginook_loves_books for tagging me in the #ColourHeartsStack - they gave me the beautiful combination of yellow, green and orange 💛💚🧡⁣
⁣
I’ve only read The Corset here, but I would love to read Witch Light soon (finally🙄). I recall someone offering to buddy read it with me as a reread for them because it was a favourite of theirs. I was sure I’d saved the reference/post, however I can’t find it now. If it was you, please get in touch! If you read this some time in the future and I’ve already read Witch Light - I’m sorry I read it without you☹️⁣
⁣
Staying with the autumn theme, I’m tagging a few of you to show me your #ColourHearts of 🖤🧡🤍 - black, orange and white.⁣
(No pressure at all though! And if I haven’t specifically tagged you but you do feel inspired and all cosy autumn, please do get stacking - of flatlaying 😍🍂📚)⁣
⁣
Which photo of my stack do you like the most? I’ve included them both because I couldn’t decide…⁣

It's day 5 of the #tenbookstendays and we have Love in the Time of Cholera which is such a popular book I can't believe it's been on my shelf for a few years and still unread.

Florentino and Fermina fall in love but she marries someone else. Fifty nine years later at her husbands funeral they meet again, will she still love him?

I am tagging @josiesprobablyreading for the challenge but only do so if you want, no pressures.

🍂‘Of life, as the man said, was a song, theirs was more refrain than verse. And yet to have claimed that a warm spring morning walking over earth carpeted with apple blossoms was somehow the same, substantively, spiritually, as a cold winter noon spent pruning, or a harvest evening heavy with the smell of juice and hay - this would have betrayed an ignorance not only of country life, but of the thousand seasons - of frogsong, of thunderheads, of first thaws - that hid within the canonical Four.’ 🍂

WOW 🤩🤩🤩 This was STUNNING!!! And I loved it, it deserves all the stars and for everyone to read it ❤️
A haunting novel based around a homestead in Massachusetts, the story spans 400 years and a diverse host of interesting, enchanting characters (including a beetle!). The house and the woods are the true protagonists here though and they shine! The writing is sublime, the story flows incredibly well, and I couldn’t put it down. The intricate weaving of the stories of the individuals who live in the house is done so well, pulling small threads of connection through beautifully. My favourite narrative was that of the twins, but to be honest, they were all fantastic and I can’t recommend this book enough!
I can’t believe this is the first book I’ve read of Daniel Mason, I will definitely be getting his back catalogue and making my way through it!
I’m really excited to discuss this next week with the #hfbookclub and hear everyone’s thoughts 🧡🧡

🌳‘Witness trees, she’d tell them. An old term for trees that marked invisible boundaries. Now also used for those that were present at important moments in our history. In other words: the ones that witnessed us.’ 🌳

Inspired by the fa-a-abulous @helen_t_reads I have done my #StrawberriesAndCreamStack 🍓🍨- yum!⁣
⁣
Sadly, I’ve only read two books from here - but don’t they all look so enticing! I often think, aren’t we all lucky to love books so much? We recognise their power and beauty, inside and out. Some people don’t, y’know? How much they miss!⁣
⁣
Anyway, have a beautiful day, my lovelies. And I’m tagging a few of you to show me your #StrawberriesAndCreamStack - I’d love to see your wonderful yummy summer vibes. (No pressure though!)⁣

📚 Mid-Year Book Freakout 📚

It's the half way point in the year and I love doing this little mid-year quiz to really set in the TBR panic. 🤣

First the goals I have set myself:
📝 Storygraph/GoodReads Goals: 40/80. 🙌
📝 24 Books in '24: 8/24.
📝 12 Books Recc'd by 12 Friends: 3/12. 🙈

⭐️ Best book read: The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë.

👌Best sequel read: Empire of the Damned by Jay Kristoff.

🖤 Favourite reread: The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan.

⚔️ Most read genre: Historical Fiction.

🆕️ New release you haven't read yet but really want to: The Beholders by Hester Musson.

😁 Most anticipated release for the second half of 2024: I don't really anticipate future books often, because there are plenty of books already released I want to get to.

👎Biggest disappointment: The Seeker by S.G. MacLean. I wanted a new historical series to get my teeth into but the first was a slog.

😃 Biggest surprise: We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Loved it!

✍️ A new favourite author: Neil Gaiman (finally a bit obsessed!), Anne Brontë, Adam Nevill.

😎 Newest favourite character: Merricat Blackwood.

😢 A book that made you cry: The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë, and Bleak House by Charles Dickens.

🥰 A book that made you happiest: Moondial by Helen Cresswell. Absolute nostalgia hit. ❤️

🤩 Most beautiful book bought this year: Probably the pretty hardback of The Miniaturist that I picked up for 50p last week!

📚 What do you want to read for the rest of the year? Everything pictured, although about half of them were in the pic this time last year. 😆

Go on then, tell me which of these I should be picking up immediately! 😆 Tagging a few to freak out with me, but as always, no pressure.
