I should’ve Ubered home. Watch til the end.

This is based on an actual ghost I may have experienced in the Woolworth Building in NYC while I stayed there. I would stay up five nights in a row in hopes of never feeling the ghost sit on my bed next to me. I surrounded myself with pillows. I ended up dreaming that he sat down next to me. I spooked myself into imagining what I had been trying to avoid.

I’ve watched this specific clip 30 times and I enjoy it every time.

We never plan our podcast or discuss it ahead of time.

The only thing we discussed was the Battle of Los Angeles which pops up on Jose’s iPhone calendar every February.

Will you? 📞

My dismissive avoidant side would never— but it did.

It was hard to admit this.

Well, OK, not really because I’ve been working on that for almost 3 years.

I’ve gotten to a point where I understand my avoidance and I really don’t care about fixing it anymore but I’m aware of it. Almost like an asshole father who still blames his mom instead of getting better.

It’s a lot of work and I’m in love with my POV.

Then I’ve had to grey rock 2-3 people for a year and that’s a ‘seemingly’ similar but whole different thing altogether. I just got tired of people making me their therapist and/or pseudo-parent. I didn’t go to school for that.

I taught some of these kids/adults in the 1990s!

About 10-20 people (I lost count) walked up to me on Halloween night. Beaming faces of sunshine, staring at me with expressions somewhere between excitement and shock/disbelief, spilling to me how Ms. Frizzle changed their lives as children. It was nice to be on the receiving end of a character I did not even create.

I played the part and made sure they felt seen and validated. I made sure to ask each of their names, and say I was so happy to meet them and hear about their experience watching Ms. Frizzle.

But I also joked with lines like: “Oh I remember you being in my class, Andre! And now look at you, you’re dead!” (He was dressed as a ghost.)

In a sea of witches, vampires, Foot Locker referees, zombies from Sinners, Porn Star Patricks, Ozzy Osbournes, Dalmatians, werewolves, lumberjacks, Michael Meyers, the Ms. Frizzle wig was like some sort of firey orange sunbeam moving through the hot, sweltering, dancing crowd at this Long Beach gay bar.

I did not anticipate the impact of this costume I bought off Amazon. All because I have had a short, one-liner joke about her in my stand-up comedy ever since 2020. That is what initially influenced me to buy the costume. It was about time I did it.

I’m tired today but I’m still affected by everyone being affected.

Another best joke I’ve ever told in my whole entire life with my favorite Pisces @josievanluis. And basically all of my friends are Pisces (Julie Wainwright, Ron Funches, my dead cousin’s best friend from high school who happens to live next to me in LA, my roommate, and more). So that’s saying a lot.

I used to watch Tales from the Crypt as a kid because I was addicted to all things scary and murder even at age 7. A few episodes scared me like the one where they pull a lady’s ear off and eat it as a sacrifice. Wtf?

Watching it now though I just laugh at every freaking episode. I didn’t do it in this video, but I can do the voice of the host. That part scares the shit out of me now. I scare myself with voices I can do.

@josievanluis telling the best joke he’s ever heard again.

There is a trend on TikTok where people tell unfunny jokes then laugh in the most annoying way. Don’t know what it’s called though. But Jose sent me one or two and he wanted to replicate it.

“Hello Kitty and… FRIENDS??” I like that my acting is pretty bad. I have so much HK stuff that’s been gifted to me since 2010 that it was fun to pretend I never knew she had friends. I did hide my laugh with the sweatshirt. But luckily, it just looks like I’m smelling the sweatshirt.

PSA- Jose does actually have diabetes. In March 2023, he almost died in his bathroom and didn’t tell me until over 1 year later. I would have never found out he ☠️ until months later. Or I would have found out via Facebook because that’s where we all find out these things. We live close together in LA County but not that close. We’ve known each other over 10 years. We both moved to LA from Phoenix. It did make me feel bad for him but also I felt upset because of how I don’t think I would have known for awhile. So— Get your blood sugar levels tested at @questdx before it’s too late and you’re lying on your bathroom floor, unconscious.
