Day of the Girl 2026 | I AM JUST A GIRL. 🩷✨

I was a Community Champion for the Day of the Girl Clap In! We cheered, screamed, danced the girls in as the very first thing they experienced as they stepped off the bus. It is a small act that carries an enormous message: you belong here, and this community is proud of you. In a world that still asks girls and young women to shrink themselves to fit rooms too small for their dreams, one moment can hand them the microphone instead.

Day of the Girl 2026 is the flagship moment of I AM JUST A GIRL, bringing together youth, advocates, and community stakeholders to elevate the voices of girls and advance the opportunities that support their health, wellness, education, and empowerment.

The Center for Healthy Families has been quietly revolutionizing lives since 2007. For nineteen years, they have helped girls and young women rewrite what the world expects of them — daughters, sisters, and future leaders who walked through our doors believing the world’s low expectations were their ceiling and walked out knowing they were only ever their floor.

Such an honor to be apart of something so magical!!!

“What would you tell a 16-year-old girl?”

That was one of the questions @proudwithstroud and I got during our “Ask Us Anything” conversation at The Center for Healthy Families’ Day of the Girl celebration.

My answer?

You are fine just the way you are.

No matter who you are, where you go, or what you accomplish, some people will have wonderful things to say about you. Others won’t.

And you are STILL fine just the way you are.

Another question was how we deal with imposter syndrome.

I shared a little trick I learned from @elizabethblountmccormick Instead of asking yourself, “Why me?” ask, “Why NOT me?”

One little word can change the whole conversation.

We talked about our jobs, how we became judges, confidence, and life. And we had the BEST time with these girls!

Thank you to The Center for Healthy Families for inviting us to be part of such a special day. 💕

“I am just a girl. And that’s everything.”

Franklin County leadership is stepping up on the national stage.

Seven members of our team, including Commissioners and senior staff, have been selected as 2026-2027 NACo Presidential Appointees, taking on vice chair and chair roles across national committees covering technology, health, human services, transportation, and intergovernmental affairs.

This year’s presidential initiative, Building Better Futures, is focused on investing in young people before problems become crises, turning data into action and meeting our youth with real, hands-on support.

Congratulations to our appointees. Franklin County’s voice is at the table on the issues shaping counties nationwide.

We got our steps in this morning at Black Men’s Wellness Day! As an East Side resident, it there was something special about having today’s walk in the King-Lincoln/Bronzeville neighborhood.

Thank you to my @franklincountyprosecutor team and everyone for showing up today! Taking charge of our health is a communal effort. Congratulations to @aawellnessagency for putting on another phenomenal event this year! 💚💚
