Summer Core Memory fr. This did not feel like NYC in the best way possible ~

📍 Red Hook Cidery — fantastic outdoor seating and vantage point. Initially pinned the brewery/winery which is right next door but I think this spot in the corner has the best views!

📍 Brooklyn Crab — such a fun venue with mini golf, game machines and board games all for free?! Would recommend waiting for the restaurant / getting a res ahead of time as the bar menu is a lot more limited

Other spots to check out in the neighbourhood:
📍 Sunny’s — old school bar; it was sooo crowded on a sat so we didn’t go in
📍Red Hook Lobster 🦞 — next on my list!
📍Steve’s Authentic Key Like Pie 🥧
📍 Red Hook Tavern — heard they are famous for the burgers…

#justnycthings playing musical chairs with 900 people in Bryant Park on a random Monday evening 🤣 Unfortunately none of us won but we walked away with this core memory 🥲

📍Xanadu, Bushwick BK

This was SO MUCH FUN. I loved the retro vibes of the place too. Need to come back and do a bushwick crawl (ps House of Yes and Elsewhere are next door if you want to make a trip out of Bushwick 👀 get tacos at Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos to catch your breath in between activities)

GOTTA LOVE A FLAVOURFUL YAP SESH 🤪 shoutout to my friends for being extra with me !!! Trying to eat more diverse foods because it’s one of the amazing offerings of NYC. It has made me explore the city and learn about new cultures which is so fun but sometimes you also wanna just sit at home and YAP hence this conceptualised. This was also my first time trying Ethiopian food!

Everything we ate in Chicago ranked:

📍 Aba — insanely delicious and high quality Mediterranean food. Pretty much can’t go wrong with anything. Lots of healthy options/substitutions. DO NOT MISS the sticky date cake with a caramel whiskey glaze 🤤 Very scene-y ambiance (we saw John Summit)

📍 Ciccio Mio — one of the most beautifully designed restaurants I’ve ever been in. Service was phenomenal and pastas were great. MUST ORDER the MUSHROOM CARBONARA 🤤 Check out the Library at the Gilt Bar next door for a speakeasy lounge + a cute photo booth

📍 Girl and the Goat — innovative fusion dishes. Can’t go wrong with any order but my fav was the chickpea fritter and the shrimp salad

📍 Au Cheval — 🍔 + 🥓 + 🍳 = yum. Never got to go to the one in NY so glad to hit up the OG spot

📍 Sawada Coffee — delicious iced dirty hojicha. Fab outdoor seating in the middle of brick exposed buildings and cobblestone floors. A vibe

📍 Nutella Cafe — childhood memories!

📍Taquira Los Comales Pilsen — hella authentic Mexican diner. Got a hefty chicken tostada here

📍 Carnitas Urupan — Chicago has a vibrant Mexican neighbourhood, Pilsen which we explored. Portion here is very generous. I had a proper food coma from this 1 pork taco (you can pick your cut of the pig!)

📍 Purple Pig — good but not great and it was the priciest place we ate it this trip?!

📍 Giordano’s — first time trying a deep dish Chicago pizza 🍕. Kinda tasted like microwaved frozen pizza with a semi raw pie crust / dough. All I can say is I’m glad to be living in New York lol

Shoutout to my friends for joining me for an afternoon of croissant connoisseur-ing with me 🥐💛

When @auxmerveilleuxdefrednyc doesn’t pick you for the croissant competition so you make your own 👀

🚤 Kayaking in the Hudson River, Pier 26! #summercorememory
☀️ We didn’t need to wait at all even though it was a weekend! Surprisingly not too busy so got to do this for 30 min - 1h. You can stay as long as you want as long as they’re not out of boats. This was so fun and therapeutic. Could the weather get any more perfect?!
