A wonderful evening at The Kreeger Museum! Last night was the preview of Out of Bounds, an exhibition bringing together artists from the Hamiltonian Artists Fellowship community. @hamiltonian_artists It was such a pleasure to reconnect with fellow artists, meet new faces, and see my work in this beautiful museum space. I’m grateful to The Kreeger Museum and Hamiltonian Artists for this opportunity and for bringing us together to celebrate art, creativity, and community. @anisaolufemi Here are a few moments from last night’s preview! 📍 The Kreeger Museum, Washington, DC 🗓️ Out of Bounds | October 15 – December 31, 2026 #bioart #contemporanyart #hamiltonianartists

The Kreeger Museum and Hamiltonian Artists are pleased to present Out of Bounds, an exhibition featuring the work of Hamiltonian alumni Selin Balci, Larry W. Cook, Joyce Yu-Jean Lee, Christie Neptune, Allison Spence, Kyle Tata, and Jing (Ellen) Xu. Borrowed from the language of sport, Out of Bounds refers to the space beyond the limits of play. Figuratively, it can describe actions, ideas, or behaviors that go against accepted rules or expectations. Working across painting, photo, sculpture, video, and installation, the artists presented in Out of Bounds consider what it means to question, cross, or redraw established boundaries. The Hamiltonian alumni’s work will be exhibited alongside selected contemporary works from The Kreeger Museum’s permanent collection. This exhibition is curated by Anisa Olufemi, director of programs and curator at Hamiltonian Artists, and presented under The Collaborative, a program developed by The Kreeger Museum in 2021 to support Washington-area artists. Out of Bounds October 15–December 30, 2026 On view at the Kreeger Museum Artwork pictured: Larry W. Cook, Tradewinds (detail), 2023, mixed media (archival pigment print on Dibond, rhinestones). One of the greatest privileges of showing FIREWALL @osloff has been befriending the Gao Brothers—we met in 2018 when we both exhibited in Oslo, Norway. In 2019, they hosted me at their Beijing studio, where we broke bread together and dancers improvised with their sculpture (swipe for video). What a sweet memory @gao_brothers 💚 This year, Gao Zhen received the Václav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent from @hrf presented in his absence by Richard Gere. Gao remains imprisoned, sentenced to three years by a Sanhe City court for “infringing upon the reputation and honour of heroes and martyrs”, a 2018 law applied retroactively to sculptures he made in 2009. FIREWALL Cafe created by @joyceyujeanlee exists to spotlight art under threat by state power, and the artists who refuse to be silenced. ❤️‍🔥 Art should never be a crime. Free Gao Zhen. 🎨✊ #FreeGaoZhen #ArtisticFreedom #FreeSpeech #GaoBrothers #OsloFreedomForum

THANK YOU to the old and new friends who celebrated our 10th anniversary @osloff this past June! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ FIREWALL Cafe aims to cultivate public conversations about Internet censorship and freedom of expression across China, Tibet, and the diaspora. Every conversation in our OFF Interactive Expo booth brought unique perspectives on how information is shaped—and how collectively we will find ways to make the invisible visible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Pictured with founder artist @joyceyujeanlee are @ahalegua @chemilhamoooo and talented Tibetan activists, as well as comedian @alisultancomedy joining a FIREWALL Cafe search session. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Try some image searches yourself on firewallcafe.com #internetcensorship #webart #freedomofexpression #firewallcafe
