Artist Feature

I am delighted to introduce Beverly Joy Underwood (Joy).

Joy's captivating paintings ( watercolour, alcohol inks, acrylic and oils) take us from a sun-bleached courtyard table to a violet marsh at dusk, from lily pads drifting on still water to a lone cottage on a windswept coast, her work moves through place after place while holding onto one thing: soft, dreamy atmosphere.

Painting for Joy by Joy.

……here’s a part of her story, a lifelong Kentucky resident.

Beverly Joy Underwood became a watercolor fan in high school art class and it stuck with her. She went to college, worked, retired and now paints.

All of her paintings are one of a kind, originals. Occasionally she will reproduce her work or sell prints as the case with her Christmas cards.

As she says “ it’s the most fun I have in my day, time slips away and I find myself in another realm”!

Her methods and tools vary from oils, acrylics, water colors and alcohol inks, the colors and the technique she uses makes for an exciting result!! Just putting down some color and seeing what develops, sometimes she reveals she is going in one direction and the color moves her in another. Objects sometimes just jump off the canvas. Other times there is a definite idea in mind, but always open for a surprise at the end..........

Remember a few weeks ago when I told you Summer and I did a photo shoot while I was visiting NYC.

Well, my friend @an_abstract_woman saw the pic of us and turned it into a piece of art.

How precious is this!!!

Stephanie is CRAZY talented and has a heart of gold. If you don't own one of her pieces, you are missing out.

Please check her out and show her some love. I think sometimes she doubts herself and her talent, but she has incredible depth and ability as an artist.

The whole starving artist thing is a reality for so many. I am a huge lover and supporter of art, I guess you could say it is one of my fiercest passions. I love creating my own, and I love supporting others. I hope one day to have an online gallery of sorts that can be a place for struggling artists or lesser known artists to sell their work. Right now my following isn't nearly big enough to really help those in need of exposure, but I would love it if you all would list some of your favorites below.
