Title : Green Flesh of Ondo Medium: ACRYLIC ON CANVAS Size: 24/36 inches Year: 2026 Green Flesh of Ondo is a visual conversation between culture, land, and identity. In this piece, green is not merely a color of nature; it becomes skin, memory, and ancestry. Inspired by the cocoa-rich soil and vegetation of Ondo Town, the work transforms shades of green gathered from cocoa landscapes into living tones that represent people, heritage, and spiritual connection to the earth. The cocoa fruit stands as more than an agricultural symbol. It reflects labor, growth, wealth, and generational history deeply rooted in Ondo culture. Through layered greens, deep shadows, and vibrant natural contrasts, the painting reimagines the human experience as something organically tied to the land itself. In my artistic language, green flesh symbolizes identity born from nature — a people whose roots, struggles, beauty, and survival are intertwined with the forests and cocoa farms of Ondo land. Every shade carries emotion, memory, and inheritance. This work is both a celebration and preservation of cultural heritage, expressing Ondo not only as a place on the map, but as a living color within the body and spirit of its people. #Akinbinu_Oluwatoyin_Joseph #contemporaryart #nigeriaartist #contemporaryafricanart #blackart #nelsonmakamo #galleryart #kerryjamesmarshall #africanart #amysherald #africanartist #collectingart #blackcollection #robertsprojects #thomasartbenton #amoakobaofo #arte #barkleyhendricks #bisabutler #artcollection #straussandco #dopeart #dopeblackart #artsy #artwork #sugarcanemagazine #derrickadams #artgallery
