“People are marking your emails as spam — and you don’t even know it.”

One of the biggest silent threats to your email performance?
👉 ISP Feedback Loops (FBLs) — and most marketers have no idea they exist.

Here’s the short version 👇

1️⃣ What is a Feedback Loop (FBL)?
When a subscriber hits “Mark as spam,” their inbox provider (like Yahoo, Outlook, AOL, etc.) sends a report back to your ESP or sending domain.
That’s the ISP saying: “Hey, this user doesn’t like your mail.”

2️⃣ Why It Matters
Even a small spike in spam complaints can tank your sender reputation — especially with Gmail, which uses behavioral signals to rank senders.

3️⃣ How to Access It
Some ESPs automatically subscribe you to FBLs (like Mailgun, Amazon SES, SendGrid).
If you’re self-hosted or on a custom domain, register manually with major ISPs.

4️⃣ What to Do With It
✅ Suppress complainers immediately
✅ Audit the content that triggered complaints
✅ Identify patterns — subject lines, timing, or segments that cause spikes

5️⃣ Pro Tip:
Combine FBL data with engagement metrics. If the same segment is low-engagement and high-complaint, it’s time to clean your list.

📬 Think of FBLs as your early warning system. Ignore them — and you’ll be flying blind into the spam folder.

If your reputation score is slipping and you can’t figure out why,
📩 DM me the word “FEEDBACK” — I’ll show you exactly how to set up FBLs and stop invisible spam complaints from killing your deliverability.
