Today marks the 2 year summit anniversary of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with @teamfoxmjff. And to celebrate, I broke my toe today! No, really. I managed to get to 49 years old without breaking a bone. Anyhoo. That’s going to hamper my training for climbing 3 volcanoes in Guatemala in November. Once again, I’m fundraising for @michaeljfoxorg to raise money for critical research into Parkinson’s Disease which has taken over my Dad (link in bio if you’d like to donate). I hope you enjoy this “never seen before” footage of my account of climbing Kili. Was it tough? Yes. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. That mountain captured my heart and soul and I will forever be changed by the experience. PS, the penis was never used and I left it in Tanzania! What am I talking about? One of those standing peeing devices for women!

what did you go there to find? 🌄
the answer is nature, space, connection, infinity.

from the jungle > to the clouds > to the sky

the most important thing was not the summit but what we shared over those 6 days - magical moments with pure souls

this experience has made me grow so much, ready for a new chapter of my life 💗

I don’t know how to put into words what we have shared over the last 6 days.

The most majestic experience of my life.

I recorded the adventure with my camera to never forget what we experienced together.

I can’t wait to share with you this mindful moment.

Jan, Manu, Yona, Haroudi, Baraka, Mickael, Mbuko, Matata, Emmanuel, John, Jumane it wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Out of the time.

Merci du fond du cœur.

On this day last year, I started climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, raising money for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. I can honestly say, that trip impacted my life in many unexpected ways.

Here are a few:
🦄 I met 8 people who are as passionate and committed as I am for finding a cure for PD
🗻 I met 33 amazing porters and guides who we were able to fundraise for, get them mountain equipment, send some to mountain guide school and English school, help set up a tour guide business for one of the guides (Joytrekking Tours & Safaris - if you ever go to Tanzania, get in touch!), and get two sewing machines for one of the porter’s wives so she could set up her own tailoring business
👶🏾 Helped get a sewing machine for an orphanage in USA River, so they can make reusable sanitary pads for young girls, so they can continue going to school and get an education. Donated pens, pencils, dictionaries, educational books, toothbrushes, soap, food, oil, soccer balls etc
🥾Did a presentation at REI in Orlando with Kristen about our Kili trip and what to expect, advising future climbers (and we’re doing another one this Sunday)
🎤 Was one of the keynote speakers at the Michael J Fox Foundation Gala in April about our fundraising efforts
🏃🏻‍♀️ Ran the Disney 10k in January fundraising for MJFF with Lucretia and Kristen
🏃🏻‍♀️Currently in training for the NYC Marathon in November (raising money for MJFF)

This probably sounds like a braggy post, now that I’m reading it back. But it’s not meant to be.

Sometimes, a seemingly insignificant event can change your life in unexpected ways. For me, it’s a good reminder to be open to opportunities that life sends you, challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone!

Are you ready for acrobatics at Chemka Hot Springs? Known locally as Maji Moto, locals and tourists come together to show off their rope swinging skills (or not)

Chemka Hot Springs just outside of Moshi is a great place to rest and relax after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Especially when your guides join you and show you how to use the rope swing (properly) #joytrekking #findjoy #findjoyineveryadventure #randr
