FLYERMAKING 101 was a night to immerse in what we love about the flyers around us in New Haven so that we could make our own…and hang em up 😎

@jpeg2k put together an amazing share on the basics of information hierarchy, thinking about audience, and where our flyers would go. We looked at real life flyers around New Haven as inspiration to get in touch with with our own taste and preferences, and then got to making our own flyers with our hands and computers. In the end we took our trusty ‘ol staple guns to put them up outside!

Folks made flyers about Cranksgiving (an upcoming biking food drive) and kickball, weaving nights and anti-ICE education. Some who didn’t have “a reason” to make a flyer made flyers for @nhvimmigrants or their favorite park in New Haven.

Flyermaking 101 will be back with different artists and organizers over the year along with other community skill-building workshops here so we all can build more confidence and skills in starting our own local projects! Feeling so much love and excitement for what comes next and huge thanks to Hayden @jpeg2k for bringing their brilliance 💜💜💜

Flyers! A way we’ve been sharing information – without the internet! – for generations of party planners, organizers, local schemers, and hype people before us.

Flyermaking 101 is a love letter to the art of the humble poster, a chance to make something together guided by local flyer enthusiasts @jp2ek and Elise Granata and then actually hang it up on real New Haven streets.

Bring your taste and hot flyer takes, leave with a few new tips and tricks to try when making your next flyer. No real reason to make a flyer required!

Come make with us next Tuesday, September 29th from 6-8pm upstairs at 140 Bradley. $10 and free for GROUP PROJECT members. Link in bio to register! Fun!!

Happy Birthday @sidelotvintagemarket !

I think we had a great party 🎈🎉🥹
What do you think, @eastrockporchfest ?

I am almost left without words to describe what I am feeling right now. (Almost, lol.)

My goodness. I simply cannot believe what an amazing day today was. It was one of those days where I just sat back and couldn't believe I pulled this off. This little community we got going on is truly supportive, kind, and extremely thoughtful. I couldn't ask for a better group of vendors who truly are just here to boost each other up. Y'all believe in each other and this market. For that, I am so grateful.

To my customers, thank you. Your positive feedback fills me with intense joy and gratitude. We do all this for you. Sidelot is not just a place to find cool things, but a place to feel belonging. A third space offered when we so desperately need it. That was always my vision. Thank you so much for seeing it.

Well, I'm going to stop waxing now.
As I have said 1000x, thank you Sam and Vin. You forever have my gratitude. Thank you to my friends for holding me up when I felt like breaking down.

See you at the next @sidelotvintagemarket
