Nitzer Ebb - Ticket - Belief Tour (20.02.1989 / Longhorn / Stuttgart/Wangen)

Another ticket (the last one) I recently bought. Again, I have not been to that concert. My "Mute Concert History“ began the next year, with Depeche Mode‘s "World Violation“ in Hamburg, in 1990.

As I am in London at the moment I will go and see Dave Baker (I Start Counting, Fortron 5, Komputer, lonelyklown) monday night. He is going to play piano and make you sing at "The Cock and Bottle“ (17 Needham Road, W11 2RP) starting at 8pm.

…and tuesday - Duet Emmo at the ICA.

Depeche Mode - Best of / Volume 1 (Poster / 51cmx76cm / Germany / 2006)

I am listening to the "Best Of / Volume One“ right now and damn it, the CD has 18 songs on it and each song is a propper Mega-Hit. Maybe "Martyr“ is the least known. And it is missing so many equally big songs like Behind The Wheel, Blaspemous Rumours, Somebody, Love In Itself, Stripped, World In My Eyes…

So "Greatest Hits / Volume Two“, where are you?

Erasure - Heavenly Actuon (7MUTE42 / Red Vinyl / Germany / 1985)

"Erasure is Vince Clarke of The Assembly, Yazoo, Depeche Mode“

Not sure of Andy & Vince were very happy about this sticker, Intercord put on Erasures second 7“, but I bet, it helped to spark the interest of the german fans ir fans to become.

Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again (L12BONG14 / Marblrd Vinyl / Germany / 1987)

I guess, I said it before, but the artwork around „Music For The Masses“ is by far my favourite from all the Depeche Mode artworks.

I remember starting at the cover and was always wondering how the music on the record must sound in those landscapes and through those speakers.

Depeche Mode - In Your Room

(CDBONG24 / Germany / 1994)
(LCDBONG24 / Germany / 1994)
(XLCDBONG24 / Germany / 1994)

While writing this, I realised there is no BONG Number, neither on the cover, nor in the CDs. Though on the "Cross-Cover“ there is a little mentioning the BONG Numbers of the two CDs that were still missing at that time.

I know…Nerd!

I especially love the Live Tracks here as they are a good addition to the "Songs Of Faith And Devotion (live)“ Album. Though the "In Your Room (Apex Mix) by Brian Eno and Markus Draws has a special place in my heart for sentimental reasons.

If you put all 3 CDs together you have more than 63 minutes of music - fantastic Mixes and Live Tracks.

"In Your Room“ was the last Single released from "Songs Of Faith And Devotion“ - what a way to end that Era.

Diamanda Galás (Auditorium Paganini / Parma / Italy / 26.09.2026)

A Voice & a Grand Piano

Diamanda Galás is not from this world. I really wonder how she kept her voice over all the years with the way she uses it. If she has a singing teacher, I want the same.

She went with her voice in every possible and impossible place and the Grand Piano is her perfect companion. Because with a voice like hers, you might forget what a great pianist she is as well.

This two things - the Voice & the Grand Piano led us through an hour of Blues, Gospel, Neo Classical, Flamenco, all strangely, but perfectly held together by the force that is Diamanda Galás.

And to complete it, the sound and the light were absolutely brilliant.

Moby - That‘s When I Reach For My Revolver (MUTE184 / Germany / 1996)

"I am making Punk now!“

Moby released his first record for Mute (Everything Is Wrong) a year before, in 1995 and it was somehow perfect for that time. Electronic Music, Techno, Big Beat, Drum‘n Bass, Jungle, EBM all of this was huge and Moby fitted in very well. That‘s when he decided to record and release a Punk Record - "Animal Rights“ and this was the first single.

Rumours said the Label did not like it, but he convinced them to release it AND………….it was a flop.

Looking back, this is exactly what an Mute Artist should be like - at least for me. Unpredictable, in the best possible way.

And I mean, the next LP after "Aninal Rights“ was "Play“, that became - not in instant - but a mega seller.

Erasure - Crackers International (EMUTE93 / Germany / 1988)

Erasure released "Crackers International“ as a 4-Track and a 2-Track 7“. This is the 2-Track version. If you ask me, it should have been a Double A-Side as "Knocking On Your Door“ is such a smasher.
