Coldstate - Gruesome (Official Music Video)

Bringing an artists idea to life is the best thing about being a director. This was by far one of the most fun productions i’ve had the pleasure of Directing. The guys came to me with ideas of wanting a grungy and chaotic video. Lots of movement, flashing lights and overall dark look. Although the goal was to produce just that, we put in a ton of effort making sure every single aspect or this video was properly executed.

One of the big keys in making this production was finding a location that fit the vibe we wanted. Once we locked in our location we spent some time walking the different rooms and figuring out the best ways to light up each room and setting up each shooting spot.

Every light you see in this music video was carefully put somewhere to create that horro “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” vibe. We wanted people to feel the chaos and torture with the colors and lights we used. As a viewer, you don’t always realize how much lighting is KEY in even dark and low lighting settings. We manipulated the lighting in many ways such as cutting holes in cinefoil and blasting a light through it to create these crazy looking streaks.

Movement and style of shooting is one of the things i look forward to the most in music videos. I like to Cam-Op my own videos because of the way i like to flow with the music. Handheld movement to the song and taking advantage of dollys and unique movements to create a mood for the viewer.

Finally getting to work with my sister with SFX make up really put the final touches on this production. Making every shot look the way in needed to look with the cuts, bruises and even helped with wardrobe.

Everyone on set was a pleasure to have and each individual crew member had a role that they killed and made this video possible. Let me know your thoughts on this and share!

Sakoya - Wandering (Official Music Video)

This one brought me back to the beginning days of becoming a filmmaker. Coming from a place where i didn't have expensive lights, or incredible cinema cameras or accessories to build a set professionally. We brought these ideas to life from a simple concept. The almighty "White Wall" music video shoot. lol

We knew we were shooting on a simple white wall but wanted to enhance the video somehow by tools and items we have never used before.

I got the pleasure of working with @thresholdproductions (Bone as most of you may know him) and that has been a goal of mine for years now. We got as creative as we could with light movement, and even using broken lenses or random light bulbs laying around to create aberrations and prim effects natively. Usually i do these effects in post but getting to do them in person gave us so much control with the movement and at the end of the day i think it turned out very nicely.

We shot this on the BMPCC 6k with our favorite Sigma Art lenses. Simple. No crew on set, besides BTS. Just Bone and I and a few lights! Very simple but please let me know your thoughts in the comments!

BTS Video coming soon!

Thanks too @zaahistudiosfacilities for allowing us to get creative in their new space!

Real ones post their end-of-year highlights a month late 😎

For real though, 2022 was filled with so many ups and downs I have no idea if I can truly say it was a good year but it showed me some really good times. This is a collage of some of those good times.
