🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝 A sneak peak of our first honey harvest!!! This first batch is dedicated to the stings, sweat, tears(when we lost our first hive) and research that has gone into starting our little apiary! We will be sharing with everyone who supported us through this adventure.
🐝If the bees allow it, we should have some honey for purchase at market next summer!!!🍯

The glorious life of a chicken lady! We moved our pens around today trying to prepare for rebuilding our barn. Needless to say our flock was lost once again🙃. I had to crawl through mud, under our deck and trap them a few at a time and carry the chickens and ducks to their temporary beds. Did I mention it’s 40 and pouring rain? So before you succumb to those sweet balls of fluff at @tractorsupply remember it’s not all sunshine and rainbows and endless eggs 🙄🤣

🥖We are now offering homemade sourdough!!!🥖 Regular loaves $10. Specialty loaves $12. I’ll consider any specialty requests, however, I will be upfront if I don’t think it will bake up. Currently you can message me to order and pay by Wednesday for a weekend pickup/delivery. During market season, I will have fresh loaves available at our booth in Paola.

After a rough couple days, I spent the morning in the kitchen creating in silence. GF Sourdough bagels and bread, classic white bread for hubs, spice mixes, and more work on tallow products and essential oil blends. I feel somewhat recharged! Spring cannot come fast enough!

A phone call no one ever wants to get. Our barn caught on fire earlier this evening. We are grateful for our neighbors for calling 911 and the Linn County Fire Department for coming out and getting the fire out. Unfortunately we lost half our chicken flock, 5 turkeys and our bunnies; along with countless tools and farm supplies. We are counting our blessings it wasn’t our home. We will keep everyone updated as we look at how to rebuild.

We rendered deer tallow this week for cooking. Exploring other ways to use it as well, hence the beard balm!
