Had a great time looking after SR for @thenbhd. Amazing band and an all star crew. Everyone at the top of their game and a pleasure to be around. Thanks to @yopattycakess for asking me to cover him. Also went to Türkiye for the 1st time to see a lot of cats and eat a lot of kebabs.

I’m so thankful for the friendships, kindred spirits, and collaborators who have made 2025’s many new projects feel incredibly special, grounded, and rewarding.

✨ Creating @portraitsofanapparition with @argusnoise has been such a joy. After a decade of being friends it’s so sick to finally make noise together. Can’t wait to finally record it this month 👀

✨ @theshannonforrest for the best, most natural recording environment to capture drums for my first “solo” endeavor.

✨ @george_lesage & @toshikasaimusic for bringing home “Sandstone” in the most unreal one-take sesh 🎯 Absolutely lethal.

✨ @zachxweeks for some incredibly memorable studio time, and creating the most ripping mix I could ever imagine for the first song I’ve ever released on my own. Can’t wait to get back to it in a few weeks!

✨ @workhardened Creating a visual character and identity for a new project is often daunting…until Paul’s involved. Then it’s just electric. It’s been a pleasure to talk all things life, friendship, and art — and to now work together. I’m so excited to see where our collaboration goes…

✨ @thomas__hooper for years of friendship, tattooing, and inviting me to play three drum clinics in one night 🥵 at the beautiful @nowheretattooing. So proud of the community of artists you’ve built.

✨ @fumingmouth @godcitymusic 👀

✨ @nowhere2runprod 👀

✨ @ryanmichaelpatterson for 15+ years of friendship, and the invitation to @thehouseoffoto for multiple opportunities to finally collaborate!

✨ My bro @aubreymccoy for being there for @chloweinberg and myself in so many ways. Love you my brother, we’re so lucky to have you in our life.

✨ @the.varner and the amazing team at @forksdrumshop for their support and innovation in all things drum-dorkery!

✨ @mickeycavs @kinggizzard @panachebooking for the kind invitation into your beautiful universe of weirdos and creatives. Thank you for not just giving Portraits our first live stage, but for the encouragement to capture lightning in a bottle and run with it. You all are the best.

I feel so fortunate to have family and friends who happen to be the most wonderfully creative people I know. Here’s to 2026 having even more of all of this! 🖤

If we got to hang out this year, it was great to see you and we are best friends and I love you.

If we didn’t get to hang out this year, let’s change that in ‘26

“Sandstone” is the first song in a series of collaborations I’ve been working on for quite some time. @george_lesage and his bandmates in @deafheavenband have been friends & major inspirations of mine for years, and I cannot possibly overstate how meaningful it was to create this song with him. An absolute honor. Thank you, George.

My sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the process of creating it: @theshannonforrest, @jsnace, @toshikasaimusic, @brandonhighfillproductions, @zachxweeks, and @townsendmastering.

A very special shout out of immense gratitude to the amazing @workhardened for capturing the spirit of this song in its cover painting. I’m overwhelmed by your talent and friendship, and I can’t wait for the next one…

Thank you so much @aubreymccoy, @ev.mattingly, @theliamstewart, and @iamchelseajade for your time, talents, and assistance in the creation of this visualizer. And I’m still picking my jaw off the floor from the psychedelic color experiments by @cosmodernism. Thank you all so much.

Though I’ve been working in isolation on this material for years, I use the term “solo project” with heavy quotations because it’s much more than that to me. It’s an endeavor to celebrate the incredible community I feel so grateful to be a part of, and the friends with whom I’ve always wanted to create.

There’s so much more that I can’t wait to show you. For now, I’m pleased to share “Sandstone” with you all. Thank you for checking it out.

throwing it back to @vanswarpedtour 2015! i went down to hartford to photograph some @sjcdrums artists. it was a busy day coordinating so many portraits and trying to fit in some live stuff too, and it was of course hot as anything. i grew up going to warped tour in the summer and i miss it!
