Her dying words weren't goodbye.

They were, "Water, water, water."

Johnny's mom was on her deathbed. She'd gone in for something small. She was anemic, just needed a little bit of blood. She went in normal. And never came out.

Johnny was sitting beside her, eating a sandwich, because she insisted he eat something. Then suddenly, she started moaning, asking for water. Over and over. Desperate. Urgent.

Johnny panicked. He pressed the button for the nurse. He thought this was it. He thought his mother was crying out in her final moments of suffering, begging for one last sip before she left this world.

The nurse walked in calmly, grabbed a little cup of water, and handed it to Johnny.

Then his mom, from her dying bed, looked at her son and said, "Well, you're having a sandwich. You need water."

Johnny froze.

His mother, dying in that bed, used the breath left in her fading lungs not to ask for comfort, not to ask for peace, not even to say I love you. She turned to her son and asked, "Yeah, you got enough to eat?"

That was her final act of love.

The nurse just smiled and said, "She talks to me like that all the time."

If you're Chinese, if you're an immigrant, if your mom came from nothing and built something out of a body that was always running on empty, you already know. Our mothers don't say the words. They don't hug us at the airport. They don't text us "proud of you."

Instead, they cut the best piece of fruit and leave it on a plate. Then they work three jobs and come home past midnight on legs that ache. They stock the fridge before a long trip.

They'll ask if you ate, even when they haven't eaten in a day. They love us in a language the Western world doesn't always recognize, a language of sacrifice disguised as silence, of devotion buried so deep you only understand it when they're gone.

Johnny's mom loved him until her very last breath. Literally.

If your parents are still here, even if it's complicated, please call them. Sit beside them. Eat the meal they prepared for you. Let them love you in the only language they know. Tag or share this with someone who needs to hear this message. 🙏

SEATTLE: We really need to settle this once and for all.

Who IS the Seattle SuperSonics?

Is it the Reign Man, Shawn Kemp... tomahawk dunks shaking the rafters, fury in every fast break, the kind of power that made you FEEL something in your chest when he caught that lob?

Or is it The Glove, Gary Payton... the trash talk, the swagger, the defense that made grown men question their career choices, the name that echoed from Key Arena to every corner of the basketball world?

My guy Johnny broke it down in a way only a real one from Seattle could:

"To the world, Payton is the guy. But if you ever hang with Shawn Kemp... you'd be like, dude, that's MY guy."

One was the streets. One was the stage.

Kemp was the neighbor. The one you'd see around the City, who'd drink with you, who felt like YOUR guy. The real person.

Payton was the ambassador. The name that carried Seattle on his back and introduced us to the world. His name is OUT there.

So which one is more Seattle?

The brother who stayed in the soil... or the one who spread the roots worldwide?

Johnny said it best: "You want the real brother, or you want the one that's on TV?"

And here's the thing... the Sonics are coming HOME. 2028, or 2029, whatever the year they stamp it on, Seattle is getting Our Team Back! And when That Day Finally Comes, this City is going to ERUPT and remember EXACTLY what it FELT like!

So before that Arena opens its doors again... Settle it in the comments.

Drop a 🌧 for Kemp.
Drop a 🧤 for Payton.

Tag someone who remembers watching both these Legends in ACTION with YOU!

Let's see where SEATTLE really stands! 🏀🗑❤️‍🔥🏆

His Dad never missed a day. Not one. Snow, holidays, battling exhaustion, early days, long nights -- the restaurant was open because it had to be.

That is not a work ethic story. That is a survival story.

And it reveals something most people are afraid to say out loud: for generations of Chinese immigrants, entrepreneurship was not ambition. It was the only door left unlocked.

Corporate America had a ceiling with no name. No one posted it on the wall. But Asian Americans climbed every rung -- perfect grades, quiet professionalism, zero complaints -- and still watched others get tapped for leadership.

Researchers call it the bamboo ceiling. I call it "the cost of being told that keeping your head down, is the same thing as moving upward and forward."

Because in Chinese culture, "the tallest grass gets cut first."

Humility was survival back home. But in the West, that same humility gets mistaken for not having anything worthwhile to say.

Johnny grew up watching his father pour his entire life into four walls and a kitchen. That image never left him.

And when he stepped into the business world himself, he carried both the sacrifice and the question his Father never had time to ask:

"Why does the most disciplined person in the room get passed up?"

We talked about that on Raw and Uncut. The answer is uncomfortable. And it is exactly what your career needs to hear.

Full episode dropping soon. Follow so you don't miss it. 🎙️🔥
