Another landmark moment at the Bhutan Compassionate Leadership Forum.

Following the unveiling of the Global Compassion Declaration, the Forum also marked the signing of the MoU and launch of JSW–Satyarthi Compassionate Action Lab (JSW-SCAL), a joint initiative of the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law and hashtag#SMGC.

JSW-SCAL has been created to bring together ideas, learning, and action to make compassion a guiding principle in leadership, governance, and justice systems.

Bhutan is a fitting home for this initiative. Through the vision of Gross National Happiness (GNH), championed by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan has demonstrated that progress is measured not only by economic growth but also by well-being, environmental stewardship, cultural values, and leadership. This vision closely aligns with the compassion championed by Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi, who advocates compassion as a force for justice, peace, equality, and sustainability.

The launch of JSW-SCAL is an important step towards building leadership and institutions that place GNH and compassion at their core.

The trip to Bhutan was magical, inspiring, and spiritual. I've always wanted to go to the birthplace of Gross National Happiness, and I'm lucky to visit Bhutan as part of the 2025 Asia Foundation Development Fellows.

I really appreciate The Asia Foundation and Jigme Singye Wangchuk School of Law for inviting the 2025 Development Fellows to Paron Forum on Water Management and Climate Change.

Not only we learn about the challenge of the receding glaciers because of climate crisis, complexity of hydropowers and rivers, and the challenge of transboundary water management in Bhutan and SAARC region, we also met with HRH Princess Sonam Dechen Wangchuk and HE Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, as well as the exceptional speakers, faculties, and students.

It has been amazing to visited the awe-inspiring @jswlawschool and Druk Gyalpo's Institute's campuses, as well as the breathtaking @tigersnestmonastery with other fellows and students.

Finally, we had a glimpse of the roofs of the world while passing the sky of Bhutan and Nepal. Mount Everest was magestic, and Bhutan and Nepal will always have a special place in my heart.

Special thanks to @follow.the.fin_karma and @sagarika.bhatta for being great ambassadors and hosts, as well as all of the TAF staff (you know who you are!) for being such a great team and simply just amazing human beings.
