From the first time I zipped up my blue corduroy jacket to receiving my American FFA Degree, this organization has shaped me into the person I am today. FFA has given me lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and endless opportunities. I am forever grateful for my advisor, family, and supporters who have helped me through my FFA journey. The jacket might be hung up, but the memories will last a lifetime. 💙💛

💙 Gratitude (noun):

The feeling of being thankful and appreciative for the people, experiences, and opportunities that have brought meaning to your life.

One last convention spent loving big, hugging many, cheering so much I lost my voice, meeting new friends, reconnecting with old ones, and soaking in some of my final moments in the Blue Corduroy. I left Indy with a full heart, a happy soul, and many stories to share.

5 years.

5 years ago, I put on my first FFA jacket. Stitched onto it was the name “Jazzy Green”; the name of someone who was gracious enough to leave their jacket behind for someone else. A year later, I zipped up a jacket with my own name on it. The next year, I was given a jacket with “District III” across the back, and a year later, I put on my very first “Indiana Association” jacket alongside 6 incredible teammates. 5 association jackets and one unforgettable year later, I found myself zipping up the last jacket I will ever receive and wear as an FFA member.

The last 5 years, I have been blessed to wear a jacket that represents much more than an organization. One that represents a home, a community, tradition, legacy, diligence, and endless opportunity.

A little over a year ago, I walked with Mr. Noll to my family and friends to open a letter that would determine the next year of my life. The whole way I repeated “God, You got me here, get me through it.” And man, did He get me through it.

I will never forget this year. I will never forget the way Indiana FFA has impacted my life or the feeling of standing on stage and looking out to see thousands of people who have allowed me to be wholeheartedly myself.

Thank you for sharing your names, your stories, and the qualities that make you, you. It’s been an honor.

Love,
Erianna Vela
