Don't forget! My new single comes out on Friday, October 30. It's a beautifully romantic fantasy that takes place in an amazing place in Cali called the Valley of the Moon. There is even a wine now from that area called Valley of the Moon. #softrockforhardtimes #rockmusic #singersongwriter #valleyofthemoon

‘Dennis Wilson’ song by The No Good Crowd is out today!

A few song facts:

1. It’s the opening song and lead single of our debut album! Release show @The Fallser Club 9/25!

2. It has nothing to do with Dennis Wilson rather just another random bearded dude spiraling down who resembled Dennis from the cover of his album ‘ Pacific Ocean Blue’ and ends up dancing on a billboard ledge along 1-95.

3. I wrote the song a few years back, but it only came together when we locked in the right “No Good Groove” with @jtrax2001 at Gradwell House studios. Please give a listen when ya can and add to a rocking playlist! (Link in comments)

Mike Lorenz, I’m Not There, is out now on Each and Only.

👉 Available at eachandonly.com

After several years away from releasing music under his own name, guitarist and composer Mike Lorenz reemerges in 2025 with I’m Not There, a deeply personal trio record shaped by change, reflection, and renewal. It had been six years since Lorenz’s last self-titled release, a period spent exploring folk-adjacent sounds with his band the Witherbees and navigating the disruptions of the pandemic and major life shifts that followed.

During this slower stretch, Lorenz amassed a large body of new music and found himself reconnecting with the guitar more directly. Moving away from pedals and electronic textures, he gravitated toward acoustic guitar and songwriting rooted in melody, form, and intention. Drawing from a wide range of influences — from Jeff Tweedy and Elliott Smith to classic jazz recordings — the music began to take on the spirit of a songwriter told through the language of improvisation.

Here on the UN’s World Day of Social Justice, I can’t believe today is the day to finally share Haiku with you!!! Please let me know how this finds you? I’m so proud of this collaboration with my musical heroes, Craig and Shara (@conspirareatx & @mybrightestdiamond) and animation hero, Christine Banna (@christineabanna). ‘Haiku’ underscores, to me in this moment, the cognitive dissonance of being a human amongst the world’s astonishing beauty and the injustice and suffering we create.

We cup our hands around beauty, and flowers are so often held in memory & healing. In this scene from my upcoming single, “Haiku” and the accompanying animated music video by Christine Banna, our protagonist becomes the eyes and hands of those left in the aftermath of genocidal attacks on their people. She gazes at a purple Forget-Me-Not (remembering lost Armenians), the White Srebrenića Flower (remembering lost Bosnians), the Red Poppy (remembering Palestinians, AND this flower is widely symbolic of lives lost in war), the Indian Paintbrush (remembering lost native Americans), the Sunflower (remembering lost Ukrainians), Jasmine (remembering Syria and other victims of middle eastern wars), Parry’s Primrose (remembering hope as it is one of the earliest blooms in Springtime).

In observance of the UN’s World Day of Social Justice, I am releasing my new single “Haiku,” alongside an animated film by Christine Banna on February 20, 2026. Setting a poem by Edo-period poet Kobayashi Issa, I am joined by Craig Hella Johnson and Shara Nova on vocals, weaving voices and string quartet into a soundscape that holds grief, wonder, and ethical tension. Through music and hand-painted animation, Haiku explores the contradiction of beauty amid devastation, underscoring wonder as a vital practice within movements for justice.
