This year’s @giffords_org Center for Violence Intervention Conference was nothing short of a POWERFUL experience! 🙌

One of the greatest investments we can make is in learning from those who have dedicated their lives to this work, and I had the privilege to be surrounded by Experts from around the world - All united by a shared commitment to advancing Community Violence Intervention! ✅

Proud to have represented @_c.h.a.n.g.e.s and to return home with renewed ideas, stronger partnerships, and an even greater commitment to serving Bakersfield with Purpose! Every conversation, every workshop, and every connection reinforced that our work is bigger than only one person! It’s a collective movement toward hope, healing, and lasting impact! 🙏

We are incredibly honored to have represented COMPASS Youth Collaborative at the Giffords Center for Violence Intervention conference, where we proudly accepted the Lifesaving Service Award on behalf of our entire team and the young people we have the privilege of serving.

Over the past few days, we attended powerful sessions, listened to insightful plenaries, and connected with both new and longtime partners & friends from across the country who are committed to building safer, stronger communities.

This recognition belongs to every staff member, partner, and young person who reminds us each day that violence prevention is rooted in relationships, opportunity, and hope. We leave inspired, energized, and even more committed to this work.

Thank you to Giffords for this incredible honor, and to everyone working every day to create communities where every young person has the chance to thrive. 🧡

One gym. One community 🖤
Today, 14 of our very own showed up and completed a 5K, and we even had someone who completed his very first half marathon 👏🏽

A 5K isn’t easy, no matter how much social media tries to make it seem like it is. Showing up, challenging yourself, and pushing through discomfort takes discipline, not only physically but mentally too. Not everybody is willing to do that. So I hope every single last person in this picture is proud of themselves!!

Seeing everyone out there in their PUSH Factory shirts, supporting each other and crossing that finish line was honestly such a dope moment. This is what community is about.
We’re so proud of every single person who showed up today. Even more proof that this is more than just a gym 💪🔥

Huge shoutout to my Big Brother @juan_correy for facilitating one of my most proud moments from last year - speaking at the @giffords_org 2025 CVI Conference! In attendance was over 900 changemakers, who all are working towards making their communities safer! It was a privilege to be a part! 🙌

Lived experience is vital in the field of violence intervention! The invaluable piece that it serves helps save countless lives on a day-to-day basis. It is such a humbling privilege to be able to have my own experiences, positively impacting lives! 🙏

Check out @giffords_org to learn more about their 2026 CVI conference! 👏

A recent RICAGV highlight we haven’t yet shared here! Thank you to everyone who attended the screening of Oscar-nominated documentary film DEATH BY NUMBERS (dir. Kim A. Snyder, 2024) at the Providence Public Library on November 1. It was both eye-opening and heart-opening. Special thanks to the writer and Parkland survivor, Sam Fuentes, and to board members Diana Garlington and Lisa Pina-Warren who dialogued with each other and the audience afterwards. As Diana reflected, the afternoon “was a reminder of the importance of turning pain into purpose” and how advocacy, art, and action can lead to healing.

Thanks also to our cosponsors United Way of RI, the Nonviolence Institute, and Students Demand Action. Board member Juan Carter gave the welcome remarks.

YOUR GIFT supports public education events like this one that advance our mission to prevent gun violence. Please give today:

Reflections back to @giffords_org 2025 CVI Conference where I had the distinct pleasure of participating in a Plenary titled “Living the Work: How Experience Becomes Expertise” - moderated by my brother, and Great Leader in the CVI field, @juan_correy! 🙌

This moment was special because of it not only being the largest stage I’ve spoken on, (Over 900 in attendance!) but it was a moment for me to see where I truly can see my career going! And that’s in the field of Community Violence Intervention! 🫂

I prayed for moments like these for YEARS, and to see God opening up doors like He has been for the last 2 years keeps me humble and grateful for every step of this journey! 🙏

The theme says it all: Culture Cures.
Last week 400+ streetworkers, community leaders, and partners came together at Gillette Stadium for the 2025 New England Streetworker Conference.
We came together to share, learn, and uplift—embracing strength, overcoming trauma, and cultivating joy for the communities we serve.
Shout out to UTEC for making it happen!
