I haven’t been posting as much on social media lately. Life has been life-ing. The last few months I’ve been putting a lot of my focus towards filming my comedy special. It was imperative I got the special done before I started my next chapter in life as a brick and mortar comedy club owner. As I have been building my dream life, I create reminders for myself to stop, smell the roses and romanticize my life right now in the present moment. So I treated myself like the star that I am and booked a fancy hotel for my special weekend in Portland. The Huxton was amazing and made my weekend even more special by upgrading my room and greeting me with a bottle of prosecco on ice to celebrate this core memory. Hours before getting ready to film, I learned my grandmother died from her battle with brain cancer. I had to compartmentalize this information to make it through my performance and be funny.

I made it through, I was pretty happy with how I felt with my performance, I was ecstatic to have Nigel, Juan and Cody by my side on this project and extremely grateful to all my friends, loved ones and strangers that came for the experience.

I spent the rest of the weekend enjoying downtown Portland and processing everything. A huge weight lifted off my shoulders for finally getting the hard part done but then the grief started to set in.

I then had to begin planning a trip to Georgia to be there for my grandmother’s service and spend time with my grandfather. The day I flew out my great aunt Sandy, whom I share a birthday with passed away. Another special person I watched wither away.

It’s been a lot & I haven’t been feeling very funny lately. My fellow comics know, this game is a grind. It’s easy to beat yourself up or feel like you’re not doing enough when you aren’t creating and posting content everyday. Or when you get an online troll that says hurtful things because they hate themselves and project on to you. So yeah I may lose a bit momentum online because I’m prioritizing what’s important to me right now.

But I am excited and I am grateful. I can’t wait to share this finished product with the world. Thank you Lindsay for these beautiful pics!!!
