Another National Association of Hispanic Journalists conference in the books! 💙
It’s always an honor to be in spaces that celebrate our comunidad, our stories, and our voices as we make room for Latinos in news! Every year I leave inspired by the conversations, the lessons learned, and the reminders of why this work matters. Seeing journalists and colleagues like @llamasnbc, from Miami to New York, being a son of immigrants too, leading newsrooms at @nbcnightlynews after having worked there during college remind me how the hard work we put in can bring the results we dream of! So grateful to reconnect with mentors and friends and meet so many amazing journalists - porque al final del día, these relationships are what make this journey so meaningful. Hasta la próxima, NAHJ! ✨

🤍 It’s hard to put into words what @officialnahj 2026 NAHJ Conference in New Orleans meant to me.

Walking into a room filled with hundreds of Latino journalists from across the country was a reminder that we are part of something so much bigger than ourselves. To learn from leaders like José Díaz-Balart, Tom Llamas, Paola Ramos, and so many others who have paved the way was both humbling and inspiring. ✨

One lesson I’ll carry with me is this: journalism has never been about us. It’s about the people whose stories we have the privilege to tell. Yes, we may face challenges, accents, barriers, doubts, but our job is to keep learning, growing, and becoming better journalists every single day. 🎙️

Being Latino in the US isn’t a limitation, it’s a strength. We can tell stories in Spanish, in English, and in every language of empathy, truth, and service to our communities.

I couldn’t stop thinking about the girl who walked into her first NAHJ conference in 2023. Three years later, she arrived in New Orleans with the job she once dreamed of. I hope that by the next conference, I’ll have continued to grow, inspire others, tell amazing stories , and give back to the community that has given me so much.

Porque esa niña que salió de Colombia aún no se la cree de estar en espacios así . 🤍

I leave New Orleans as a better person, reporter, producer, and leader than when I arrived. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of @nbculocal and to reconnect with the mentors and familiar faces who believed in me when I was just a student at UCF.

NAHJ has become more than an organization to me, it has become family.

Hasta el próximo año. ¡Que viva el periodismo en español! ❤️

LAPA 2024–2025: A Year to Remember 🌎✨

From hosting 16 events and launching a podcast, to building bridges with embassies and publishing research on AI governance — this year was about connection, knowledge, and community.

We reached over 1,300 participants, engaged with 10 embassies, launched 2 podcast episodes, and produced a flagship conference report that brought regional leaders and students together.

None of this would’ve been possible without the passion and dedication of our LAPA Board and the support of our community at Georgetown and across the Americas. 💙

Thank you for believing in a Latin America shaped by ideas, purpose, and collaboration.
We’re proud of this journey — and even more excited for what comes next.

LAPA Georgetown was honored to join the "Harnessing the Potential of Latin American Cities" conference, organized by @latinamericaconference – LAPA at the Harvard Kennedy School in Boston on February 8th.

Through six insightful panels, we explored the future of urban development, pathways for social mobility, and the impact of local initiatives. The event featured distinguished keynote speakers, including Claudia López, former Mayor of Bogotá, as well as outstanding experts from the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Harvard Kennedy School, among others.

We are thrilled to see the continued creation of spaces that highlight the critical role of Latin America in academic and public discussions. It was also a privilege to connect with incredible graduate students from universities across the United States.

A special thanks to @bea.toribio and the @harvardlapa for the invitation, and to all our Georgetown members who joined us for this enriching experience.
