POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thank you to @jubileehousing and Somerset Development Company for taking me on a tour of some of your buildings in Ward 1 last week!

We chatted about the history of the buildings, resident programming, and wraparound supports, and I learned a little bit about aquaponics!

Jubilee and Somerset have such a major footprint in Ward 1, and their work has helped create and preserve thousands of affordable housing units, making it possible for people to stay in their neighborhoods and in the Ward for the long term.

Proud to join Jubilee Housing for its Raise the Roof celebration!

Dr. Khudur’s inspiring journey from growing up in Jubilee Housing to becoming a medical professional reminds us of the opportunities that stable, affordable housing can create.

Thank you to Jubilee Housing for its continued commitment to building stronger communities and ensuring DC residents have a place to call home.

How do you raise a roof? Together. 🏠✨

JK Moving was proud to sponsor Jubilee Housing’s Raise the Roof! The DMV’s real estate leaders, business partners, and neighbors showed up and raised $35K+ for DC homes in one night, five floors up at the MLK Library.

So proud to be in the room with David DeSantis, CEO of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, and Tom Daley, Managing Director of Luxury at Keller Williams Capital Properties, two leaders who give back to the communities they serve. 💙

Grateful to join neighbors, advocates, and friends last night for Jubilee Housing’s Raise the Roof celebration.

One of the highlights was celebrating Dr. Khudur, who grew up in Jubilee Housing and is now a medical professional. Her journey is her own remarkable achievement—and a powerful reminder of what a stable home can help make possible.

A safe, affordable home gives people room to breathe. A place for children to grow, for families to find stability, and for someone coming home from incarceration to build a new beginning.

Thank you to the Jubilee team, residents, and supporters who keep showing up for that work—and for a DC where people can afford to stay in the neighborhoods they call home.

Proud to stand with you. Let’s keep building a city that makes room for everyone. 💚

Community = Connection

We are grateful for the opportunity to share resources with our community last month at @georgetownuniversity and at the @jubileehousing’s community resource fair. We’re always excited to connect with our community, share information, and strengthen relationships with other organizations doing important work.

Great seeing Jim Knight, President of @jubileehousing, at their Art Walk — celebrating the creativity that lives throughout the Jubilee community.

The walk featured work by incredible artists like @aniekanreloaded and @alldaymurals1, alongside pieces created by Jubilee youth, seniors, and returning citizens.

Jubilee continues to be a flagship for justice housing in DC — building community, not just housing.

If you’ve been supporting the Dance Institute of Washington for any of the last 40 years — we need a favor. Find somebody who doesn’t know about DIW yet.

This season, we’re opening our doors wider and thinking about dance differently and not by ourselves. We’re partnering with organizations across and beyond the dance world: Swaliga Foundation, Open Goal Project, Jubilee Housing, and DC’s public and public charter schools. Dance is showing up in spaces you might not expect this season, and we want you to see it.

Got an idea for a program or initiative? Fill out our collaboration form — link in bio.

Great day to be at Nats Park to celebrate Ward 1 and its residents! And the @nationals , of course! I was thrilled to invite guests Tyrell Holcomb, Gilma Merino and Terry Nicholetti of @jubileehousing , a Ward 1 creator of deeply affordable housing and compassionate communities, to join me on the field. Their contributions to Ward 1 are nothing short of phenomenal - working with Jubilee has been one of the highlights of my time as a Councilmember.

🚨 DC FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN NEED HELP NOW. 🚨

I am advocating for several families in the District of Columbia who are facing eviction, displacement, homelessness, and even family separation after Rapid Re-Housing assistance ended or became insufficient.

These families were placed into housing to help them become stable,
but when the support stopped before they were financially ready, many were left with rent they simply could not afford.

Now children are being moved from home to home. Some are being separated from parents or siblings. Families who were supposed to be moving out of homelessness are being pushed right back into it.

DC, we have to do better.

How can a child focus in school when they don’t know where they’re sleeping? How can a parent become financially stable while constantly fighting eviction and homelessness?

This is bigger than rent. This is about keeping families together.

I am calling on DC Government, housing agencies, elected officials, community organizations, landlords, churches, nonprofits, businesses, and advocates to step up.

These families need:
🏠 Emergency housing
💰 Rental assistance
🤝 Landlords willing to work with families
❤️ Family support and mentoring
📢 Advocacy and immediate resources

We cannot call a program successful if families end up homeless again.

I am advocating for these families, and I will continue speaking up until they are heard.

If you can help, partner, provide resources, or connect a family to housing, PLEASE REACH OUT.

📢 KEEP DC FAMILIES TOGETHER. OUR CHILDREN DESERVE STABILITY.

Please SHARE until the right people in the District see this.

💙 A Partnership That Helps Families Feel Stronger

Danica has spent years walking alongside families as the Family Engagement and Community Outreach Manager at Jubilee Jumpstart. In that time, she’s watched something consistent happen: families grow stronger when they don’t have to navigate everything alone.

That’s where the partnership with Platform of Hope comes in. Through referrals, shared events, and years of showing up for each other, POH and @jubileejumpstart have built something families can feel, not just see.

From coaching support to shared community events, Danica believes POH’s role as a connector can grow even stronger with more direct engagement between partners and families.

One trusted door. Many kinds of support. 💛
