I am thrilled to announce STILL: A MICHAEL J. FOX MOVIE is premiering at Sundance. Thank you @realmikejfox for being a world class act and truly amazing human. I grew up watching Back To The Future, Family Ties and Spin City, and you are one of the only movie stars my immigrant parents know by name (a huge honor trust me!). There were many moments looking through the lens that I had to stop and pinch myself. Thank you forever Davis Guggenheim for entrusting me with this extraordinary opportunity, the Producing team for your tireless work, and every single crew member who worked on this- you absolutely knocked it out of the park. I can’t wait for the world to see! When you aren’t given an opportunity to develop your skills, you make an opportunity for yourself. I recently teamed up with three wonderful people to practice our craft as filmmakers. I am a huge fan of Cloteal Horne, the star of Driving While Black Magic, a short I directed in 2019. She introduced me to the talented Bryce Wood, and they asked if I would direct them in a scene they chose from “The Light” a brilliant play by Loy A. Webb. I brought on my partner Keith because the man knows how to do everything. We didn’t have a budget, but we own some gear and have an apartment. After a few weeks of Zoom rehearsals, negative COVID tests, and a 2 night prelight (very convenient when it’s in your own home!) the four of us came together to shoot this exercise. (We shot 10 pages in 8 hours!! 😱) Here’s a taste of what we came up with. To watch the whole scene head over to @mslawebb page. . . Thank you to my amazing collaborators @cloclo.butter @bryceknows @keithmckellar ❤️⭐️🔥 (I want to mention the scene does not touch on the deeper storyline of the play- which is really incredible. You think it’s one thing and then it turns into something else. I highly recommend everyone check out the original play “The Light” by the incredible @mslawebb !) . . . . . . . . . . #thelight #pocdirectors #femalefilmmakers #cameraladiesdoitbest #bkliuhorneproductions #cinemod #sonyfs7 #zeisscontax #workwithwhatyougot
