New episode. Tzofim Podcast, Episode 16. The three-year anniversary of October 7th.

This is not a memorial where everybody cries and then goes back to pretending. We put the day on the table. The invasion. The murders. The hostages. The soldiers buried since. The marches that started on October 8th, before a single Israeli tank crossed into Gaza.
Then we say who we are. JDL 613. Ahavat Yisrael. Hadar. Barzel. Mishmaat. Bitachon. We do not talk about Never Again. We live it.
Hosted by Yisrael Yaacob Ben Avraham, with Ilya and Jason.

Never again means we fight back. Am Yisrael Chai

Jewish history is a lot more diverse than most of us realize.

Here are five communities with very different stories, all rooted in Judaism.

This is why Jews stopped putting the Torah on a table and started dancing with it.

One of the most universal ideas in the Jewish holiday calendar - Sukkot has always had the whole world in mind.

Chag sameach.

If time is linear, we can’t change the past.
If time isn’t linear, maybe we’re never completely finished with the past.

Either way, there’s one thing we can change: ourselves.

And that’s what makes teshuva possible.

Shabbat Shuva: a Shabbat about returning - to a moment, to ourselves, and to who we want to become.

Tonight at sundown, Yom Kippur begins.

It is the Day of Atonement — a day of fasting, prayer, reckoning, and return.

And within it comes Yizkor.

We light a memorial candle.
We say the names.
We remember those who are gone.

There is something deeply Jewish in that restraint.

Not performance.
Not sentimentality.
Not decoration.

Just memory, prayer, and the refusal to let a life be erased.

Even the prayer most associated with mourning, Kaddish, does not speak about death.

It speaks about holiness, peace, and the greatness of God.

That, too, is part of the lesson:

Judaism does not deny grief.
It gives grief structure.
It gives memory words.
It gives the dead a place inside the living.

A flame.
A name.
A prayer.

May their memories be for a blessing.

Stop asking why they hate us. Start asking why G-d loves us, and how we can become worthy of that love. My new piece isn't about antisemitism. It's about the deeper why of being a Jew, the one that has nothing to do with our enemies. Link https://randysettenbrino.substack.com/p/stop-asking-why-they-hate-us?r=1vv16f
