‘Remembering Lepe’
2022, Oil on canvas, 40 x 50 cm

Although I grew up on the coast, it wasn’t the idyllic seaside—instead, it was all dockyards and a big industrial port. The nearest beach to my parents’ home, Lepe, was a regular weekend escape. As I worked on this painting, I fell back into playing carefree with my three younger brothers, in tangled bushes and wind-shaped trees above the stony shore.

This painting was made after lockdown when I spent a couple of months back at my parents house. Each morning I would drive to Lepe with the dogs, spend an hour or two completely alone, rarely bumping into another soul. It became a sanctuary of sorts.

3. My brothers and I in 2021 at Lepe. A rare photo of us all.

6. An incredibly special photo of me taking our beloved family dog Alfie on what we didn’t realise was his last walk. He was 15 and an absolute menace - but honestly he was the best friend to all of us. He passed away the next day, while eating his dinner (died doing what he loved) I had just gone back home to London.

This painting is available through @blueshopgalleries as part of my solo show ‘Remembering places once trodden’

Single release ‘Changing Seasons’ by @judecroissant

‘This was my first release in over 2 years, so I wanted for it to be as perfect as it can be. The song is about falling in love with the changing in seasons and how embracing them did a lot of good for me instead of just staying inside and ignoring it’s natural beauty.’

Jude Croissant (jood) is a musician from southampton in the UK who is currently living in london studying music.
