Até gostaria de ter tido um feriado de moletom e Netflix, mas ao lado deste trio meu nove de julho só poderia ser icônico!

There’s an illusion that my job is to design beautiful things all the time, but in fact when we are a small/independent brand, having the time to seat down and design is a treat, we have to run the business which takes most of our time, create for social media, talk to customers, stylists and editors, take care of the website and inventory, organize events, supervise of all the manufacturing, shipments, plan photo shoots and so on. I love it all, but when I finally manage to find time to create it feels like a luxury Summer vacation! I hope this week, I’ll have a bit of that! How about you? I’d love to know if you love your work as much as I do and what part of it do you love the most? Xxx, Jackie.

A short story about a jewelry designer: Although I love the first picture, the second one is a much more accurate portrait of myself drawn by my five year old niece who often makes me speechless, two days ago when she drew this, she asked me why I enjoy living in all the places of the world, she instantly responded to her own question: “I know! Because you are an EXPLORER!” I guess she has the answer for the questions people ask me all the time: Where do you live? where is your actual home? Where do you leave your stuff? Where do you work from? How can you live like this? And I could keep typing these questions… But the point is, my wise little niece is so right! When I left my hometown 10 years ago to become a jewelry designer, I had no idea what my path would look like, I just wanted to explore, to experience life from all the angles possible. I am an explorer, my home is this planet we call Earth, and I’m honored to share this journey with you and to be able to bring beauty to it through my work.
To be continued…

Another short story about a jewelry designer: I know this sounds crazy, but because I grew up in a farm in Brazil and practiced a religion that people are not allowed to wear any jewelry, I didn’t know that jewelry designer is a profession.

When I was 19 and dropped out of business school, I needed to make money, so I taught myself how to make jewelry, I had no idea where I was going, I didn’t know a single person in the industry that could give me advice, but because I started working at a very young age at my dad’s retail stores, I learned all the aspects of the family business, which gave me confidence to be an entrepreneur…

I often think of every challenge I had to overcome, all the lessons I have learned, to be where I am today in my career. Besides hard work and resilience, there was a lot of beginner’s luck and so many generous people that helped and still help me out!

Wanted to tell this to express that one way I’ve found to give back all the support I receive during this journey is to support and mentor (for free) other business owners that are talented and passionate about their ideas and businesses. If you are an experienced business owner or have success in your career, I encourage you to do the same, it is rewarding to see people we support succeed, besides that, we end up learning so much from them.
