@officialdanielsilvas 🚨 Anaheim, Orange County, California News πŸ—žοΈ A 35-year-old man, Vinh Quang Nguyen, died Dec. 9, 2024, after cardiac arrest while in custody at an Anaheim jail. He was arrested Dec. 5 after an altercation in the parking lot of the Beach Side Inn on South Beach Boulevard, where he showed erratic behavior and was suspected of being under the influence of drugs.

Officers restrained him, including placing him face down in a cell during booking. Shortly afterward he showed signs of medical distress and received Narcan, CPR, and oxygen before being hospitalized. An autopsy found he died from complications of methamphetamine intoxication, with exertion during restraint as a contributing factor; the death was ruled accidental.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office cleared Anaheim police of criminal wrongdoing, finding the force used was appropriate and medical care was provided promptly. Nguyen had no prior criminal history.

@officialdanielsilvas 🚨Orange County, California News πŸ—žοΈ β€” A man ran onto the tarmac at John Wayne Airport Tuesday evening, stole an airline tug, crashed it, and tried to take a second vehicle before airport police arrested him, KTLA reports.

Skyler Barr, 26, of Everett, Washington, was booked on a Delta flight to Seattle when he breached Gate 12 around 5:30 p.m. and ran onto the airfield, an airport spokesperson said. Officials said he stole an Alaska Airlines tug, used to pull luggage and aircraft, then crashed it into another vehicle near Gate 7.

Video obtained by KTLA shows him driving the tug in reverse and maneuvering near an aircraft by the taxiway. He then tried to steal an American Airlines lavatory service truck before Airport Police Services took him into custody. Air traffic control told a SkyWest pilot there was a security breach and a ground stop after someone stole a tug. Barr was taken to a hospital for evaluation and arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, trespassing, and vandalism. It is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. The airport said operations were not disrupted.
