New Haven apizza has landed in Covent Garden

After a cult pub residency at the Bedford Tavern in Finsbury Park, @lennysapizza has found its permanent home on Henrietta Street, in a slightly more polished site in what was the old Avobar. The pies are proper New Haven style: crispy, chewy and beautifully charred.

We loved The Lenny, which comes half tomato and half cheese and tomato, along with the potato pie (double carbs is always a good idea) and a straight-up pepperoni. To drink, there are classic cocktails with a few fun twists, like a blue cheese olive martini, plus homemade peach iced tea.

On the side, get the Caesar salad with anchovies and the prawn cocktail was a surprisingly good shout. Save room for a milkshake, a sundae or the tiramisu to finish.

It’s open from Tuesday 27th, so go get apizza this!

First look šŸ‘€ @pam.restaurant , the first of two hotly anticipated Thai openings from @karlaknowles__ has landed in a very cool Clerkenwell space.

Expect modern Thai food with some fun twists, starting with a banging selection of snacks from fried red curry sticky rice balls to dressed oysters. There are some lesser-seen dishes too, like the khao soi noi rice pancake with egg and pickled mustard greens, plus a grilled folded gurnard. All three curries were great, from the rich mutton hunglay packed with pickled garlic to a roasted duck breast number that comes with a bowl of French fries, and the brill rib in a yellow coconut curry.

Wash it all down with natural wines and a handful of fruity cocktails, all served in what might just be one of the coolest dining rooms in London.

Opens Tuesday 3rd November 🄵

PREVIEW: Cloth Cornhill has taken over the iconic, historic City site formerly known as Simpson’s Tavern, and it’s safe to say it’s cut from the same cloth as the original.

Atmospheric interiors that wouldn’t look out of place in a Victorian TV show. A seasonal British menu of classic dishes that the OG @clothrestaurant is known for, plus some fun nods to the building’s past.

There’s also a beaut bar snacks menu (swipe to see) offered in the two bars below, and a brand new grill section in the restaurant above, offering big steaks, chops, and whole fish to share. An epic dessert list, with a Welsh rarebit on it. Given that two of the owners are wine importers, the wine list offers excellent value too, especially for this part of town, making for a genuinely interesting selection.

We had a preview at the very first F&F dinner and we’ve got a feeling, like the original Cloth, they’ll wipe the floor clean with this one. Opens 1st October. This is gonna be one hot rezzie (just try getting a table for October already).
